Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Memory Viewer] any alternatives to this pluginI have edited the inflammatory title, I’m not sure why it was needed or indeed what the worry is with Jan who I don’t believe is against seeking alternatives for plugins no longer being kept up to date in fact I suspect he is quite pro for it.
I also see you found a couple, maybe someone might have others.

In reply to: My site got hackedThis is very much the official advice, and following it will help remain calm and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.

In reply to: WordPress re-routing malwareWhen a sites been hacked we always recommend remaining calm and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.
To answer specific questions, redirection code can hide in many places, both changes to files but also within db if they are using javascript or similar and found a way to run it.
Ok folks, I think this is one of those situations, where you are both going to go for each others jugular fairly quickly and will end up saying things you both regret.
Name calling in a review is uncalled for, and name calling people not related to the plugin especially so. I’m going to close this thread, both take a few breaths, enjoy some sunshine. Have a think perhaps really neither is so far apart.
However if you do believe a plugin is using deceptive practices, the best thing todo is contact the plugins team [email protected] and let them decide.

In reply to: Export to Html and Lockdown Original WordPress FilesWhile nothing is 100% given most attacks are automated, the goal is to make those automated attacks less likely or stop them all together a password prompt will indeed stop those.

In reply to: ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVEDERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED is a DNS/network issue rather then a WordPress issue. It’s normally where the DNS has either not returned a result, or when the browser goes to the address nothing is responding. Check the IP address match those of your server, and the host has the subdomains set up correctly. If you manage the server, you may wish to check networking and firewall isn’t blocking the relevant ports and that a http server is running to return a response.

In reply to: I'm a newChances are its just the default text, on either the Hello World post or Sample Page, to find either of these go into your WordPress admin, then go to Posts you will see a list of posts, if Hello World is there, you can either click edit or delete depending if you just want to change the content or remove it entirely.
Likewise for the sample page, again within wp-admin go to Pages and do the same thing for Sample Page.

In reply to: Problem with menus and sidebars since upgrade to 4.6If you use a commercial theme or plugin and need support, please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations.

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

In reply to: RedirectsIf everything is staying exactly the same, then 301 redirecting the entire domain with paths intact is probably the best way which judging from your original post, seems to be what your CPanel option is doing. Things become more tricky if you want to redirect only some content, and you might have to resort to using something like htaccess or if the original site was to remain up you could use one of the existing WordPress redirect plugins.

In reply to: Comment ProblemIf you believe you have been hacked then remain calm and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.
However before doing so, just to confirm, you removed 506 approved comments, and they have now returned or simply that after running Akismet they haven’t been deleted?

In reply to: Manage Number of Users (based on role)If your happy with the code from the link, you can would need to adapt it, to return all the current users for each role and count then block.
That said, a role isn’t as fixed as it seems in the admin interface, and are more a way of giving users capability rather then groups, you might be better off looking at some of the simple membership or group plugins and managing the users by group rather then role?
