I finally had a chance to upload the text to pastebin today. I apologize for the slow response time!

Here is the header text from my child theme:https://pastebin.com/hyEagGZU. It is identical to the parent theme header text except that I moved the yellow-highlighted lines 43-45 above line 46. They used to live between lines 50 and 51.

That said, I did a test to see what would happen and I replaced the child theme header text with the exact same text as the parent theme (with yellow highlighted lines back in their original spot.) When I did that, the menu issue still persisted.

I activated the original theme and the issue did not persist. So it must me something in my child then, right? I took some screenshots and put them up on my site here.

The first photo is what the screen looks like when you click on the word “menu” with the twenty twelve theme activated with no modifications. All the menu items show up in a list. The second photo is what is looks like with my child theme activated. Clicking on the “menu” button does nothing. Also, it seems that the icons at the top of the screen are all missing with the child theme active.

I have a header.php and a style.css. The only thing I changed in the header was to move my logo above the menu.

Yes, I have a child theme that is active. I think the problem may lie somewhere in the child theme but I’m not sure where.

I’m not a developer and am kind of piecing this all together, thank you again for any help from those with more knowledge than myself!

This was happening to my site as well yesterday. I just applied this fix and it worked for me.

I had been frequently clearing the cache, but I hadn’t tried seeing whether I was in compatibility mode. For some reason it was, so I turned it off. That fixed it! Amazing! Thank you so much.

One question though – when other new users click on my site, will my site automatically force them into compatibility mode? If so, they are going to see the nav menu bar all messed up.

I “think” I fixed all of the errors in the child theme. The errors remaining are in the parent, and I was told not to touch the parent.

Okay I’ve updated the file. I added a few more changes to make the nav bar look exactly like what I want.

It looks good in Firefox, but IE is not picking up the menu color, hover color, or line height.

It should be noted that I’m a beginner at this and learning as I go, so I appreciate any help that those who are more knowledgeable than me can offer!
