In reply to: author.php and permalinks problemResolved! With a lot of digging around my website, I’ve finally managed to make this work. Turns out that the guys who had built my website initially, weren’t linking to an author page as specified by WordPress but instead built a custom page called authors.php and that was situated in the home directory. Annoying.
So when I switched to permalinks it was looking for an author.php in the themes folder. I created an author.php page correctly and placed it in the themes folder and voila! Check it out at https://www.freelancestudents.co.uk.
Cheers,

In reply to: author.php and permalinks problemOk I take it that nobody really knows what I’m talking about. As a workaround does anyboyd know how to link to an author page (i.e. a bio and picutre etc) without using the the_author_posts_link() function? Is there a bit of php code??
Please help!!

In reply to: Pages and Permalinks problemI resolved this! Woooo! The problem was that I had many absolute references to pages (e.g. https://www.example.com). I changed these to use the <?php bloginfo(‘wpurl’); ?> call and that seems to have fixed the problem.
Shouldn’t really use absolute references as they cause various issues when looking at a local copy of your website.
Ok thanks,

In reply to: Basic <p> and <br /> not saving/working, no timestamp editMan! I’ve been searching hard to resolve this one. And… finally… I’ve sorted it. So thanks to Otto42 and craigvansant!
I also found that in the Visual Editor I had to select “Paragraph” from the Format drop-down menu. You can find this menu by clicking the last icon on the right on the Visual Editor bar (Show/Hide Kitchen Sink – has lots of different coloured dots).
Hope somebody finds this useful.

In reply to: Maintenance Mode Plugin – helpThis seems to have been resolved. Although, I haven’t done anything since posting this query, so I’m assuming it was a cache issue. I cleared the cache numerous times prior to posting so I’m still baffled!
