Hi there,
I don’t intend to hijack this thread but contribute to the discussion.
What’s the key problem? We all would like to see NextGen REPLACE the WP Media Library (which is very poor). While this is partially possible due to the inclusion of the NextGen windows within the “insert picture” option in a post or page, you CAN NOT upload any image into NextGen there…
Let’s think workflow, non-technical user.
- User x wants to post a new page to the blog.
- He has the text and would like to upload three pictures for the article.
- While pasting the text is easy, he now wants to post three pictures and needs to upload them.
(I HAVE A DREAM SCENARIO)
- The author creates his own gallery or clicks through to an existing gallery.
- He then clicks the “upload image” button and selects the three pictures from his hard disk.
- NextGEN does what it does best and uploads, resizes, thumbnails, etc the images.
- The user then inserts the into the page he is working on and aligns/resizes with the integrated wordpress / tinymce tools.
Would this be possible in the near future?
I would even pay for this feature….Thanks, Titus

Is it possible to have a widget be only visible for members of a specific role, (e.g. authors)?
I have all users redirected to the front page and would like the editors to have a little menu with some quick links (create post, access dashboard, etc.).
Thanks, Titus
…uite a while already…
Thanks anyway for the great plugin!
TitusHi Alexe, do you think this could be fixed in one of the next releases of NextGen? Just curious, this issue has been around q

In reply to: Turn multisite child blog into a standalone siteHm, I had a similar idea and the solution is not great obviously, as it’s very manual and the risk of failure with complex plugin architectures is high…
It’s probably easier to start off with a standalone, duplicate it and then use the master to update stuff, then again copy over the duplicate, and so on…
Not entirely satisfactory either.
Ideal would be a plugin that:
1. creates a standlone blog
2. populates it with the content of the child blog in question
3. copies all plugins and the respective SQL content as well.Did I forget anything? ??

In reply to: DM Album & Media Library conundrumYou’re not doing anything wrong. It’s a lack of feature.. WordPress can’t “index” files that you manually upload via FTP…
Try the “add from server” plugin, worked fine for me..

In reply to: Does NextGEN Gallery work for WPMU?and here is the link to the feature request on google code:

In reply to: Does NextGEN Gallery work for WPMU?In the table “options” of the child blogs you get the below entry:
a:67:{s:11:”gallerypath”;s:1:”/”;s:9:”deleteImg”;s:1:”1″;s:9:”swfUpload”;b:0;s:13:”usePermalinks”;b:0;s:14:”graphicLibrary”;s:2:”gd”;s:14:”imageMagickDir”;s:15:”/usr/local/bin/”;
Note the “/” after s:1
This results in all images being uploaded to the root folder of the domain… If there was a way one could code this differently it would be great…Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Does NextGEN Gallery work for WPMU?Forgot to mention: I use NGG Version 1.5.2

In reply to: Does NextGEN Gallery work for WPMU?Hi there,
I am testing NGG with WPMU and the problem is that the options of NGG in the child blogs don’t allow for an upload directory within the blog’s directory, e.g.
/httpdocs/wp-content/blogs.dir/46/gallery
Gallery path is “/” and you can’t change it when in the dashboard of the child blog…
The lack of this feature is rendering NGG pretty useless for WPMU (tested with 2.9.1.1.
Is there any quick hack you could come up with so that all galleries of the child blogs will create a default folder, e.g..
/httpdocs/wp-content/blogs.dir/46/gallery /httpdocs/wp-content/blogs.dir/47/gallery and so on...?
Thanks for your usual great support!!!
Titus
