I managed to figure out what was causing the issue. The Above The Fold Optimization plugin was causing the error. I will contact the plugin author to see if they can offer help.

Thanks for the feedback Andrew. Yes any suggestions on the CSS would be appreciated.

If the CSS changes reduced the white spaces on the desktop for between the menu, header and page text would this only reduce this space on the mobile platform (which would be fine) or is there other changes that may occur on mobile?

Just following up on this. There is also a home.php and a page template Php. One for the home page and the other is used for the rest of the site. Would this link into the solution in anyway?
