In reply to: [WP eCommerce] No State pulldown for Shipping AddyUpdate:
Tracked this down by building a fresh install of WP3.8 and WPSC3.8.13.1 with no other plugins and just 2014 theme…
For the 2 sites we’ve been seeing the “issue” on, one uses only FlatRate shipping and the other uses only a Table Rate shipping method — both only sell/ship within the US.
So when originally built, the wpsc theme file wpsc-shopping_cart_page.php was customized to take out the “Calculate Shipping” area; the thought is no need to specify Country/State since flat or table rate. But what I am seeing is, the Ship To Address form does not give the customer a choice to specify State, it takes the value from the Calculate Shipping above.
Ah, the joys of open source… ??
Not sure yet how we are going to cleanly work around this, but at least we now know what to look at.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks for listening.Hello. I’ve been searching the forums and this thread is the most recent I can find on this topic.
I’m having the “Enable Hide Backend” and nothing happens when a new Registration is tried issue.
Is there any way to hide the login and have reg work?
[that’s basically my question, but what I’ve done to test below…]For testing, I just did a fresh install of WP3.5.1, no plugins, no themes. Only settings changed from default install, check the “Anyone can register” box in General Settings and set Permalinks (month and name is that matters).
Download and install Better WP Security 3.5.2 via the plugins page (my normal procedure would be to ftp, but I wanted to strip down to the bare minimum here).
Activate BWPS, skip a backup, click the one-click basic set-up.
/wp-login.php?action=register works ok
set the Enable Hide Backend checkbox, try again..
/register redirects fine to /wp-login.php?mqt01lhkluoy3pcgfzljs&action=register
fill in Username and E-mail, click Register, the page refreshes with form cleared and no new User created, nor any emails.other stats…
shared linux server, but first saw this on a dedicated server
not SSL
htaccess has the BWPS entries written to it okIf you’ve gotten this far and are still reading, thanks for taking the time.
Any info or workarounds (besides Disable the hide) is much appreciated.

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] Warning: session_start()Hello again,
Just my followup info… I don’t believe my issue was specific to this plugin, but is what brought the issue to the surface — unless using that /tmp is a flaw.
As you see it the original poster’s Warning msgs above, /tmp is at the same level as his /public_html, I had a similar situation. We don’t have access ourselves above our ‘root’ (the /html dir) so I could not check permissions myself, I was at the mercy of the hosting service.
After 45mins on the phone with the first level support, I was finally able to get them to bump up a level in the service chain and they discovered that permissions were not set properly.
Hope it helps.

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] Warning: session_start()I just had something similar happen when my hosting had to move me from one server to another. My issue was caused by permissions not set correctly on that /tmp directory on my new server.
Maybe this’ll help someone (I find answers in the forums all the time, but never really get to give back).
I hope it helps!

map_sidebar
