Thank you very much Jose. I was expecting to do it with .htaccess, I didn’t even thing of a JavaScript solution. Hm. The reason I don’t want to use a plugin is that it seems like an overkill for such a tiny thing … correct me if I am wrong.

Solved (kind of) — thumbnails work when I don’t use FTP and to clean the watermarks I have to reupload the images.

P.S: Also resetting a gallery doesn’t work, at the moment my images got four watermarks.

thanks for the quick and detailed answer. I forced the re-crawl but it didn’t help. My source code doesn’t show emojis unlike other websites, where it works, maybe I am using the wrong unicodes? I used https://r12a.github.io/app-conversion/ and then “Hex NCRs”. I know this has nothing to do with Yoast anymore but maybe I am lucky …

I figured I could solve this if I converted all portrait modes modes in landscape mode. But then I need to change the cropping area so the bars on the left and right don’t show. Image thumbnails are now cropped to the upper left, can I change that to the upper middle or center?

I edited the code for the slideshow shortcode which is used on the portfolio sites but the shortcode doesn’t change. Even when I edit the animation speed (see example below) in the shortcode manually it doesn’t apply.

thank you very much for getting back to me and sorry that it took me that long to see my notification.

Yes the image is loaded and the caption displays but the slideshow continues automatically within a second, so the user doesn’t even have time to read the caption, especially the longer ones. To see this in action you’ll have to wait for the second pic in the slideshow, for some reason the first always stays for longer.

I also found this plugin but since I don’t use WPUM it’s useless to me.
