‘Allow comments’ AND ‘Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page’ have to be off.

i think i know what’s happening, if not how to fix it (if it can be fixed).

the post in question is a sticky. this seems to have its own behavior.

for the hell of it, i clicked on ‘leave a comment’ (for the first time) and it went to the post, as a single post. voila, no more link to ‘leave a comment’.

but, the ‘leave a comment’ link does still show up on the home page, where it’s sticky.

maybe there’s a better way to put a permanent comment on the home page, instead of as a sticky post?

it’s not a big deal but any ideas welcome.

well that bit of detail is useful. i turned on comments, not discussion. thanks.

(starting to sound like a MS product. “to toggle allowing comments in your post, click on ‘discussions’. no, don’t click on ‘comments’, click on ‘discussions’. comments is not for comments, it’s for… we have no idea.”) (no, it’s ok, i get it.)

any ideas about stopping the ‘Leave a comment’ link from showing up on the live page? i’m starting to think this is a code issue…

i found the screen option but it doesn’t really help with either problem.
