I am having this same problem. It worked flawlessly until a week or so ago. (No new plugins added) now It works sometimes and not at all other times. Instead of relying on it working, I now have to check Facebook, Twitter, and Google + to see it they were notified. Earlier today Jetpack did ask me to reauthenticate these services so I did. It remains to be seen if this fixes the problem.
