Well this is interesting. I was brave enough to again download the plugin and install it on my test site (not the live site). Amazingly, this time the cc.chango.com javascript code did not appear on the pages. Did you remove it? Even so, this time after plugin activation, no pages or posts would load completely from my test site. I again deactivated it and removed the plugin and everything is back to working normally. Seeing that I tested the appearance of the chango js code several times–activating and deactivating the CSS Plus plugin and seeing it appear and disappear–you must have removed it from the latest downloadable version. This plugin is a nice concept that is needed in WordPress development, but I no longer trust that it doesn’t contain secret code to do other things.

I haven’t found where the code appears within the plugin itself, however. I would investigate further, but I consider the software to be too dangerous to have even on my test site. I don’t know what other silent tracking schemes or bots might be included within the plugin’s code.

If you install it on a test site, use Firebug to inspect the code on the page that uses the plugin. Search for the chango name and you will see the js code immediately come up. If you then deactivate or delete the CSS Plus plugin, the js code will disappear. I wouldn’t be surprised if the plugin was sponsored by this corporate site to secretly insert their code into WordPress development. The end result is to be able to track everyone that visits a site and do it surreptitiously. This shouldn’t be allowed in WordPress plugins.

I have the same issue with a messed up Black Studio visual editor with WordPress 3.8. I tried the CSS fix, but it has no effect with FireFox. I am using the Ultimate Tinymce plugin, which adds functionality to the standard Black Studio widget. The combination worked fine in the previous version of WordPress, but with 3.8, Black Studio can’t display the widget editing box properly (whether you click on the arrow or the name of the widget). As in other posts, the tabs for “Text” or “Visual” appear within the dashboard tools area and the editing area extends too far to the right, because the tools are pushed over by the “Media” button. Despite these cosmetic issues, fortunately the functions appear to work properly. I hope that the visual aspects can be corrected soon.

    thanks!

I just tried WP Clone for the first time to backup my site (https://endtimestruth.com using Go Daddy hosting) and got the same error message (Error Message : MySQL server has gone away). My site isn’t that large (total size of WP files is about 275 MB) and the typical database backup file is about 20 MB). Any help would be greatly appreciated, as it appears that many other users have gotten the plugin to work well.

    Thanks!

My version of the WYSIWYG Widgets editor (v1.2) already has the recommended fix in the plugin location /wysiwyg-widgets/backend/js/old.js, but in /wysiwyg-widgets/backend/js/wysiwyg-widgets.js there is no such line of code. Please be more specific in how to implement this fix, as the widget doesn’t work as described when using WP 3.3.1.

    Thanks,
    Greg

Okay, after some more playing around I got it to work, but with some quirks. After installing the tiny mce advanced text editor the WYSIWYG editor buttons showed up but didn’t work. I then got the idea to allow pop-ups in Firefox, which then resulted in the widget working. However, there still are some potential bugs. The word wrap doesn’t work in the window size–it allows words to spill over too far to the right and out of sight. Also, the text window doesn’t seem to open up the way you state, but it just opens similar to the basic text editor widget that comes with WP. Hope this helps to get everything working.

I now noticed that after installing the tiny mce advanced text editor that the WYSIWYG Widgets finally showed the editor buttons, but nothing in the text box worked and no text could be entered. Please let me know if you have a work around. Thanks!

Note that the widget doesn’t work with WP 3.3.1. Clicking on the writing area does nothing and the widget refuses to respond to bring up the WYSIWYG editor. I certainly hope this issue can be solved, because this is a feature sorely needed for WP. Thanks.
