I have built a new WP site staged on a server (abc.com) that will replace a live non-WP site (xyz.com) on a different server. My final step is to optimize the pages with Yoast on the staging site and I would like to block access to robots for now. (I don’t want robots to crawl my staging site.) I plan to unblock robots as soon as I replace the live site withe the staging site. Before I proceed, do you foresee any problems using Yoast this way?

    Hi @mvkat,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Blocking access to robots on your staging site while optimizing with Yoast is a smart move to prevent search engines from indexing unfinished or duplicate content. Using Yoast in this way shouldn’t pose any problems as long as you remember to unblock robots once you’ve replaced the live site with the staged one.
