I never claimed it was, it is a way that other tutorials use however, and one that has worked for me before.

What I have never dealt with before though, is using the temporary URL that was provided by the hosting service.

I am really just trying to get someone who understand wordpress better than I do to say whether or not the temporary URL has ever been known to cause problems due to its structure. For example, i cannot access the hosting space through filezilla because the temporary URL i have to use isnt recognized by it.

i did not use those specific instructions, and I am trying to avoid starting over entirely.
The method I used is an appropriate way to transfer a WP site. I have used it many times in the past but I have never dealt with trying to use a ‘temporary URL’.
I guess my main question is this- does using a temporary URL (see above) screw with wordpresses ability to re-establish file paths?

The thing is, we will be switching his domain name to point to this new hosting, so if the temporary URL is known to be problematic then I can easily just wait (instead of starting the process from scratch for no reason).

ok so the first and last field (in a list of 8) are the only ones i can grab and move independently. I feel like i must be missing something

I think i may be able to just add text between the short code that wordpress generated.

My other issues now is that when trying to drag/rearrange the field order, when i grab one and move it, it grabs like 6 others with it.

Not sure if this is a glitch or if i somehow made them to be linked together

ok i dont know whats going on… i just refreshed his original page and now it has the same problem.

It has the blue and red colored titles and instead of a white background, it is transparent so you see the default page background.

but if i click the “go to printer friendly page” it has the correct look

im trying different css rules, the typing field seems to be based directly on the location of the text. so if the text is all aligned right sharing the same right-side margin, then the typing fields should all line up, to share a left-side margin. right?

i cant seem to get the css rules right though.

btw what prompted you to check that i was blacklisted?

well the question really has to do with the where the code for the menu items is generated, which applies to any wordpress theme.

the theme is called ’empire’ … the site is currently offline or hidden to public, you have to be admin to see it.

Either way, this is located in the dashboard.

I’m hoping someone with experience with something like this will recognize my question or perhaps any guesses as to where the dashboard menu items are generated from?

i have been searching around and have since found that wordpress themes can actually be made from photoshop, i didnt read in depth about it but i believe it mentioned being able to export as xhtml or css.

Is this the idea behind the supplied .psd? Or is that a whole other ballgame?

is what im doing more sensible to just write the HTML code in a text widget, like an unordered list?

thanks for the feedback daniel, will all Onedesign themes get updated for WP3.5, I would love to not have to ditch the ‘Esplanade’ theme
