Has anybody figured out a solution to this?

I currently have 2 different Google search results for my site.

First is WordPress blog page: https://themarkpike.com/blog

And then there’s another entry for: https://themarkpike.com

I’d prefer it if the sitemap generator were able to communicate with search results to condense this into one result (the static homepage) when you search for my name.

Fixed it.

Just deleted this:

C’mon WordPress! I scheduled a meeting around this… Uggh.

If you convert the RSS feed using Feedburner, it works fine. Problem resolved.

Still not resolved. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks…

I have contacted the support staff at W&M, and they created a MySQL database for my use. They gave me the username, password, and database name. I went in and changed the “wp-config” file to reflect these changes.

When I attempted to install, I got the following error:

Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

I know I’ve got the password, username, and database name correct. Is it possible that it’s not at localhost?

Well, I poked around to see if anybody else has a WordPress blog at my college, and sure enough the Ballroom Dancing folks have got one going on. (https://www.wm.edu/so/brdc/)

This seems to suggest that the php/mysql conditions are adequate for WordPress. Right?

So… umm.. now what? How do I make my own database and sutff?
