In reply to: discrepancy between WP and Google Anayltics stats???Hey there, me again.
Keeping in mind that I am a writer, NOT a techie, do you think I can handle Mint? I was put off by the notice on their site that use of Mint “requires a basic familiarity with HTML, FTP and following written instructions.”
I’ve been blundering around www.remarpro.com and Thesis and getting by on trial and error but I really know nothing about HTML and FTP.
What do you think?

In reply to: discrepancy between WP and Google Anayltics stats???So appreciate your input, both of you.
I will investigate Mint – it does seem well worth $30 to get more accuracy. And I didn’t realize that Google was counting my own obsessive viewing of my blog! That could definitely throw things off. ??
Today WP stats show 549 page views so far – given how new the blog is, I’m thinking that’s pretty encouraging???

In reply to: how do I track number of subscriptions (RSS, Feedblitz, et al)?Macmanx: I will look into these options. Since I am such a non-techie, I may come back to you after looking at them with some follow-up questions – hope that’s OK!
But can I ask you a second, related question? My google analytics just got going this week (some code problem prevented reports up until now) so for the first time I can compare stats between google and the WP plugin. Taking yesterday as an example, the WP plugin says “211 views” whereas google says “120 visitors and 476 page views” . How do I make sense of the discrepancy? And what’s the gold standard in the blog world – visitors or views?

In reply to: help for a plug-in newbie??jleuze:
Two questions (again, keep in mind that this stuff is SO not my area).
First, I can’t seem to find anywhere in the Plugin or in Settings where I originally assigned an id for my FAQ’s so that I can now try pasting it on the page. I searched and searched and even deleted the Plugin and re-installed hoping to find some prompt that would lead me to that original id (or the chance to create a new one) but no luck. Any thoughts on how to retrieve it?
Second, just to test out this whole shortcode thing, I saw another place in the Plugin where it gives that bracketed code and says, just paste on the page to create such and such. So I copied it with my browser and pasted it on a page, then updated and looked at the page live on the blog. But all I saw was the bracketed code itself. Not the button or tool that was supposed to be created with the code.
Is it literally, copy and paste onto a page? Or am I missing something?
Thanks for taking pity on a complete neophyte! ??
