I unchecked the Optimize Javascript Code, saved and cleared caches, no change. Then I re-checked that one, and unchecked Optimize CSS, saved and cleared caches, no change. I re-checked the box again to set things back to normal. I already never had Optimize HTML checked.

Now the SimpleBanner has completely disappeared off my homepage entirely.

*UPDATE: I deactivated the banner and re-activated it, and now it’s back. But it’s still got the wrong styles.

Oh wow, yes I was linking to an article on that website within the email I was trying to send. Once I removed that link, the test email sent fine. Thanks so much for figuring it out!

Ok so now the desktop preview also does not show the most recent changes either. So it’s a problem with all previews. The only thing that works is sending a test email to myself, which will show the most updated version. So I’ve sent like 100 test emails to myself today every time I make an edit.

I also have this issue. Apparently so does everyone. WordPress hates data-pin-description. It will break your image blocks.

Have you figured anything out yet? I’ve been scouring the internet for months and can’t find a solution to this. I don’t want to pay for a plugin.

Apparently data-pin-description is good for SEO purposes within the Pinterest platform itself because it helps them figure out how to categorize things and show your pins in search results. But this description doesn’t actually show up anywhere visibly. Pinterest will pull the excerpt from your post, or the social media excerpt from Yoast that you enter for your Facebook description. At least that’s what I’ve sort of devised based on trying to contact support.

So if data-pin-description is impossible to implement, maybe I’ll just have to give up and be happy without it. Especially if people can’t read it anyway and it’s just background meta. I can’t really “test” whether data-pin-description even helps with SEO. Maybe that’s just what they tell us so we’ll buy the plugins, idk. But if it does actually do anything, I’d like to be able to have the option.

Excluding pages works for all of my pages except the Home page. I went to exclude pages > enter page name > I typed “Home” > I clicked Add. This works for all the other pages except the home page? Do I need to call it “Front Page” or something?

@suascat_wp Oooooooh. I thought I had read that social previews will automatically pull whatever you put under the “SEO” tab, so you don’t need to complete the “Social” tab unless you want it to differ. I’ll go in and copy/paste my descriptions from the SEO tab over to the Social tab. Thank you for clarifying!

Nevermind I figured it out. I had never heard of a “self-ping” before and never had it happen until I downloaded this plugin. I’ve now installed yet another plugin, the “No Self Pings” one which will hopefully counteract it.

@suascat_wp thanks for getting back to me!

Yeah the second shorter one (the meta description on the page source) is the information I put into Yoast. The longer one that’s populating under og: description is the excerpt that I entered into Post > Excerpt within WordPress itself.

I kind of thought Yoast would override the excerpt when it comes to what shows up in Google search results, social previews, and Pinterest Rich Pins. That’s not the case? Do other people leave their Excerpt field empty? If I do that, then on my “All Blog Posts” page there will be no excerpts?
