I’m disappointed that you take the same dumb route as all plugin suppliers that I have to disable all my other plugins. This is similar to reinstall Windows too!

I would expect that a company such as Jetpack has a smarter approach to this issue such as our plugin is being denied of xxx service or whatever in a time such as this that the WordPress codebase is turning into a mess.

So it took me quite some time and the only plugin that consistently breaks your Jetpack plugin is the latest Woocommerce plugin…go figure that mess. My Woocommerce is not configured yet as just installed as default so what do I do? I’m a software engineer so understand software so why have Jetpack got such poor diagnostics?

Bytherway another of my customers tells me that they could not get their Android WordPress app working because the app says RPC is not active which it was. In the end I tracked this down that Jetpack was not logged in so why could this be?

    Thks for replying

Changing the theme does not help. I use Hello that is very simple.

I had it working before however with some changes and elementor updates it does not work now.

So my problem is the archive page shows all posts ok however if I try to show the archives by taxonomy it will still show all posts.

My webspace is at 50% with 10Gb free space.

I found the issue that it’s disappointing that your app did not catch it….there was a crashed table that I repaired and all is well now

I used to have my Onedrive working but now it does not…seems my supposed to be perpetual license went to a trial…how do I fix this as only google backup works.

I do not have a current subscription as your renewals are just too expensive…have you any idea what subscription totals cost a business…if you did then you would charge 10% of the purchase prices and retain far more customers renewing.

I found the reason why your items do not display on my sidebar menu….I use the plugin WP Custom Admin Interface (as many do) so it prevents your items being displayed anywhere. I realise you might say to take this bug up with that plugin author but as 10% of all plugins I ever used suffer from this it might be your plugin having some strange behaviour….can I recommend you talk to that plugin author please as you would be in far better position to find the bug?

I wanted to complement you on showing your change log and other important info on the ‘search statistics’ page…all authors should do this as this saves me plenty of effort and time. Can you please recommend this to WordPress?

Thanks, you are correct the menus are there and it solves my issue however brings up an even bigger issue Cornel?

About 10% of plugins I have tried did exactly the same so I just uninstalled them and categorized these as bad authors….it seems to be a WordPress standard going off the rails so I highly suggest you investigate this. I do software for a living and know WP and Elementor well after some years of hard learning however I think I am in the group of 99.9% that just do not have the time to sort these issues and expect it to just work. Maybe a good start is to publish these gotchas and the direct links on the plugin info page?

Thanks to all of you who reply and Cornel for your great plugin that you volunteer your time as startups like mine…here is my attempt to give back if it helps you… [link redacted by moderator]

Both those links when I added in my domain gives an error. I realise you will say to disable my other plugins however all my other plugins work fine.

    Here is the error
Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.

    Any suggestions please?

No I should have explained better.

I use elementor so have a common archive template for all types of archives such as tags, categories, all archives etc. On this archive template, I make blocks visible/not visible depending on what kind of archive calls. So this works well.

I tried to add the dynamic search options to the template also but I do not know how your filter will catch the /?s=xxx parameter to make blocks visible/not visible?

Just to let you know my Taxopress is 3.5.1 however your help screens look very different than my taxopress setting pages? I do not have the Suggested Terms item in the menu or even the element in the page bottom

    Thread Starter thecatim

    (@thecatim)

Also, I do not see the suggested terms section….there is no enable for this at the top of the page elements? This item of suggested terms is not in the menu however all your other menu items are there?

Ok a lot of text I wrote in hindsight not a good idea I realise…

    The problem:
I need linkage between posts and pages as per topic the user could follow
I use tags for this purpose
Once the user enters from any point to any of our content then there must be a related tag at the bottom of any post/page (we have this)
Our problem is assigning these tags and knowing what is assigned to what.

    Solving the problem:
Plugins can see patterns in already assigned content and when I create new content it must show me these prior assignments as suggestions of what to assign to the content I create.
The plugin should also report how tags are assigned according to patterned assigning or even usage numbers. I have our tag list for example sorted so I can see zero usage of tag and either delete the tag or assign something to the low used ones.
There are many plugins that show which tags are assigned to what content but none that show from the tag perspective of how it is used.
As you do tag plugins I would think this would be a great feature to help authors assign their tags more effectively?

    Thread Starter thecatim

    (@thecatim)

The auto tag would not work.

    Here is the problem:
We have 100 posts and 50 pages that have a common tag tax. We have about 200 tags.

We create a new blog twice a month and assign <10 tags each.

Our objective for assigning tags to posts & pages is to do what Facebook does….to keep visitors on the site longer by cross-linking tags as much as possible so a visitor can follow the ever-expanding topic that the tag path presents.

Currently, the way we do it is to create a new post, go through 200 tags that we can select by checking similar posts and reading through the tag list. Our tag list can be sorted in various ways such as usage so we try and allocate the lowest used tags first. We then do a screen through similar posts that it should be linked to but might not and update the tags that it does.

This is a very cumbersome way of doing it but the only way to increase our blog consumption. There are no plugins we can find that even reports on how taxonomy is allocated or even used. Our search bar tool tells us what people search for but it is hard to figure out which tags get searched for.

So my idea revolves around the tag (or tax) perspective to report and also manually assign tags assisted smartly with suggestions by a plugin.

If you look at the Related posts section almost at the bottom of our posts below then you can see the plugin that looks at the content of our post and finds other posts that are similar. It seems to work however this would be the hard way…so tags would be the way to go as at least I could sway it. My real problem is it is impossible for me to see the full context of so many tags & blogs & pages together…by for software it is easy. We use the tag grouping plugin that helps a bit that you can see on our blog homepage.

I think there is a huge opportunity for you to do smart tax management as many companies are changing their focus back from FB to their own site blogs due to privacy concerns. I am a software developer so this would be a very feasible thing however plugins is not our area of expertise.

Thank you for the suggestions that I have received but does not work for my issue as you have misunderstood my issue and unfortunately your plugin pose a grave security risk to any website.

I just wanted to say that I am grateful that I can use your plugin in the free basic model as it has great features however IT security attacks have become very sophisticated since you would have first have created your plugin and you have not updated the security to where it should be. Please take my criticism only as constructive as I urge you to take my advice into consideration as we would love to keep using it and buy some of your extension plugins when we can get it in a stable secure mode.

    The problem that I have:
I separated the user login between WordPress and Foro and with other plugins I have obscured my WordPress URL for exclusive internal use and knowledge.
Foro after password should present the Foro password screen (not my WordPress) and then redirect to a custom thank you page.
The settings you mentioned did not do this and from reading the help it will redirect my WordPress URL to Foro that making it highly insecure (we have obscured URL and WordFence guarding our WordPress URL so do not want to compromise this)

Here are some recommendations I have:
Security of plugins is directly related to your plugin sales so take this very seriously as you will see plugins under great scrutiny in the news.
Have one single tab with all security settings duplicated there so I do not miss any when reviewing it.
Provide a search inside the plugin for settings as your settings are hard to find…a great example is a plugin called Ajax search bar
Have better help that is very concise on security
Have a single page that is very up to date on all security..Microsoft has this as an example
There are toolkits available to get around your gotcha2.0 so this setting you have is not helping even though we disabled xml-rpc access.
Consider all the security tips that you can offer your users such as user account sync between Foro and WordPress is very severe if it defaults to on..security risks should default off on installation as opposed to showcasing your features.

I develop websites for other organizations and use your plugin for them that suffer almost no attacks,….because we [link removed bymoderator – please do not spam] develop embedded solutions for other companies we have severe attacks that try and get access to our systems so they can embed their attack code into our systems…..I strongly urge you to understand my concerns well a speedily act on it
