  • Hi, I’m having the exact same problem.

The “notify me of follow-up comments” sentence is vertical instead of horizontal. I’ve got the Adenture Journal theme too. I used this plugin as I already tried the other two subscribe to comments plugins. I have deactivated them, and thought this plugin would do the trick nicely.

Please can someone help? No idea where to go from here…

    With many thanks!

I’ve tried that now, and it seems to have done the trick.

Thank you sooo much. I’m very happy!

Thanks again for taking the time to help me out. I do appreciate it.

    Thanks a lot!

Yes, I would love to update WordPress but actually it involves me buying a new computer, and I simply can’t do this ??

Tried your suggestion but there’s no check box as far as I can see (but also my dashboard doesn’t tell me I’m using an old browser). I don’t get the message when I look at my website through my ibook G4 but other people do on other computers/web browsers.

    Any one got any suggestions?

My host got back to me saying there was an error with the database and they managed to resolve it.

    So happy ??

…and I’ve learnt more along the way.

    Thanks for all your help.

Thank you very much. I was actually just looking at those threads about the infamous ‘error establishing database connection’ (and watched an excellent YouTube video) and been checking and checking that the wp-config file is correct and that it matches with the database name etc. And I checked that ‘localhost’ is correct too.

I am a little concerned that the database I exported from my old host and then imported to my new host is quite small (about 0.6 MB) but then again I didn’t have a lot of posts and comments. Perhaps I should do this again?

And I’ll get on to the host too…

It’s just such a shame to move hosts and think things are almost sorted and then to have my website down…

Your support is much appreciated. Thank you.

    Thanks for that!

I’ve moved what I thought the relevant files now to the proper place.

Now I’m just on to the usual problem ‘error establishing database connection’. I’m 99.9% sure I’ve got the database name and username, password and hostname correct. I keep checking over and over (and the wp-config.php file is definitely in the right place now) but still getting the same problem. My domain name is the same (although I have transferred the registration now). So I assume my URL is the same?

Thanks for your suggestions and patience.

    Thank you very much t-p.

I had read that excellent document (and have printed it out too!).

I guess I’m saying that I don’t know what the ‘core’ wordpress files are as there are so many folders e.g. css and img and test and I don’t know if I should have these or not. But as it says on the documentation ‘all the other files on your site’ so I’ll assume it’ll all be okay?!

    Any thoughts welcomed ??

Sorry I can’t help – as I’m after the same information!!

I’d like to add an image to where my site title and tag line is too, but have no idea how to do it with my Premium Modern Orange template.

I’m eager to read your replies. Hope they come!

    Thanks.

Thank you. I will speak to my hosts about it. I seem to be contacting them a lot recently!

Just thought it seemed a very similar problem to one that others had had where the message read ‘download failed. Could not create temporary file’ and they fixed it by making a new temporary file and changing the config.php file.

But I’m so new to this that I’m feeling rather lost.
    Thanks again.

Thank you very much! The place holder has now been renamed and works fine.
    Brilliant!

Only problem now is that I tried installing a theme and got this message:

Warning: touch() [function.touch]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 10067 is not allowed to access /tmp owned by uid 0 in /var/www/blahblah/mydomainname/httpdocs/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 199
Download failed. Could not create Temporary file.

I’ve tried to glean what information I can from the forums, and it looks as though I’ve got the correct permissions settings so do I have to add some code to the wp-config.php file? Problem is I don’t know exactly what to add and where as I’ve never ever done this before!

Please can I be pointed in the right direction?
    Thanks.
