Thanks, Stephen — I appreciate the super quick replies, all of your information/explanation, and adding the functionality to override the email address!

    Thank you!!

Hey Stephen – just saw you replied while I was typing so our messages crossed.

Glad I’m not crazy at least!

Yes, if you could consider this for a future update, that would be great. Again, even when *I*, the consultant, am not the one trying to send out, even if it’s the actual event chair sending out the reminder, 9 times out of 10 they do NOT have a branded email address matching the site domain, so Google is going to scream and holler and throw reminders in the spam folder.

We did use the reply-to feature – but again, if the event chair doesn’t have a branded email, it’s still going to make Google mad. Even so I think it’s preferable to send the email from the Admin (or other domain-branded email address – like the VP of Volunteers) and then use the reply-to optionally. Giving the option what email address it sends from – with the default email address (either admin, OR the email address set in the Sign Up Sheets Email Settings) being pre-filled.

    Thank you!!!

    Hi Stephen,

Appreciate the quick response, and please understand I’m not pointing fingers here. Just letting you know about a situation we’re having and appreciate any help.

I understand what you’re saying and while I’m not a programmer, I can see that it appears that ‘admin_email’ should be sending the email (if I’m reading that code correctly). That’s definitely not what happened; the email came from my personal email address.

However, there are no SMTP mailer plugins installed on this website, nor any plugins that would have any reason to be changing the FROM email address. I’ve pasted all of the plugins installed on the website at the bottom of this email for your reference. Even if we DID have an SMTP plugin, we would never configure it to use my personal email address on anything.

So I wanted to do a second test to see if we can figure out what is happening. I created a secondary Admin account with a different email address, and a dummy sign up sheet so I could test sending a volunteer reminder while logged into that secondary admin account.

This time, I got an error when trying to send the reminder:
THE WORDPRESS MAIL FUNCTION REPORTED A PROBLEM SENDING ONE OR MORE EMAILS.
    screenshot: https://prntscr.com/nuhd1z

I then checked the “Send Individual Emails” box (which is what I had used the first time), and the email DID send, but as you can see below, it sent from the email address of the logged in user again:
    https://prntscr.com/nuhfxp

The fact that the error says “WordPress Mail Function…” tells me that it is indeed WordPress sending the emails (which I knew, as we don’t have any SMTP plugins).

Again, I understand what you’re saying that your plugin should be working in the way I originally described, but for some reason, it is not on this site.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

    Kym

    Plugins installed on the website:

    gravityperks/gravityperks.php, gravityforms/gravityforms.php, all-in-one-event-calendar/all-in-one-event-calendar.php, backupbuddy/backupbuddy.php, black-studio-tinymce-widget/black-studio-tinymce-widget.php, bulk-actions-pro-for-gravity-forms/bulk-actions-pro-for-gravity-forms.php, classic-editor/classic-editor.php, conditional-tags-shortcode/init.php, duplicate-post/duplicate-post.php, erident-custom-login-and-dashboard/er-custom-login.php, foobox-image-lightbox/foobox-free.php, foogallery/foogallery.php, genesis-simple-sidebars/plugin.php, gp-limit-submissions/gp-limit-submissions.php, gp-nested-forms/gp-nested-forms.php, gravity-forms-pdf-extended/pdf.php, gravityformspaypal/paypal.php, gravityformsstripe/stripe.php, gravitywp-css-selector/gravitywp-css-selector.php, mailchimp-for-wp/mailchimp-for-wp.php, mainwp-child-reports/mainwp-child-reports.php, mainwp-child/mainwp-child.php, members/members.php, pta-volunteer-sign-up-sheets/pta-volunteer-sign-up-sheets.php, recent-posts-widget-extended/rpwe.php, sg-cachepress/sg-cachepress.php, shortcodes-ultimate/shortcodes-ultimate.php, soliloquy/soliloquy.php, sucuri-scanner/sucuri.php, svg-support/svg-support.php, ultimate-auction-pro/ultimate-auction-pro.php, ultimate-member/ultimate-member.php, user-role-editor/user-role-editor.php, velvet-blues-update-urls/velvet-blues-update-urls.php, widget-options/plugin.php

OK, obligatory security addendum – don’t give just “anyone” an admin role and hide functions. It doesn’t necessarily prevent them from being able to do malicious things. But if you have a staff member or volunteer or whatever who isn’t out to harm you — if you just want to make sure someone isn’t poking around in tabs they don’t need to, Admin Menu Editor is fantastic.

I’ll just throw this in here too as it’s helped me with numerous plugins that I want to give access to someone but NOT any other functions — check out the plugin Admin Menu Editor. It’s fantastic and will allow you to hide things on the admin menu when giving access to something else. This is partiularly helpful for plugins that do NOT create a role like Sign Up Sheet Manager (thank you for providing that, DBAR) and generally require admin access to view. You can create an admin role, just hide everything you don’t want people to be able to click/do.

Aha, ok, got it – that worked (after I realized that I couldn’t copy the original one because I had moved those tasks… I copied the one I moved tasks TO, and it worked.)
Are you aware that when you copy a sheet, it creates 4 copies of it? Think I recall seeing that in the support list or maybe I even reported it myself before. Screenshot here:

Lastly, may I make a suggestion? I can post this in your feature request forum too. As you can see, this client has a lot of sheets — all of my orgs that have been using your PTA sheets for years do, because they keep them for re-use/reference. It would be AWESOME if at the top of the list of sheets there was a search bar to locate the sheet we are looking for. Right now we have to page through and look – and alphabetical isn’t even always helpful because “Parent Social Volunteers” might have been “2018 Parent Social” or “Spring Parent Social” — being able to search for “social” and bring up ALL the sheets for the socials would be fabulous. I envision it just like any other taxonomy/custom post page like Posts has a search — like this:

    Thanks again for your help!!

I was able to bypass this by refreshing the page and quickly going to the Help tab under Wordfence, and that allowed me to click on the Review button.
Not sure what conflict occurred to cause this, but maybe this will help someone else who may encounter the same.

We are not premium wordfence so I can’t submit a ticket, I’m sure you’d need more details / login or whatever to look into this, but I don’t want to post that publicly.
Thank you in advance for help.

Oh, forgot to add that also the Preview image on the admin end for the gallery will not load.

PS, I do want to add – this is my first time using Ultimate Member. I’ve used numerous other member plugins, as most of my client sites are nonprofits, and many need member back ends like this. I am overall VERY, VERY happy with this plugin. It is by far the easiest to set up, and out of the box, the styling is fantastic. There are a couple of features I wish were in here but the trade off for the simplicity and aesthetics, and the awesome directory – I will absolutely be using this plugin on client sites in the future. ??

    Hi,
Well yes, we do have that, at the very top of the site in a secondary menu, and yes, technically, that does work, but it’s just meant to be the portal into the section, not a navigation menu, since it’s pinned to the top of the site. It does not make any sense to have to use that “portal” link as navigation when every other page in the members-only section has navigation.

I guess just take my situation as a feature request, then, so if I may explain further my use case for consideration. I don’t want to provide screenshots in a public forum to private pages, but maybe this will help:

Public site is for everyone, and that’s what the primary menu on the site is for. Members click a Log In link in a secondary menu (pinned to the top of the site) to access the Members-Only section. That’s essentially the portal in.
Once inside, all of the other pages have both breadcrumbs to go back, and on non-full-width pages, a sidebar menu with all of the pages to the members-only section. The breadcrumbs are especially helpful on the few full-width pages we have where there is no sidebar menu.

However, the User/Profile pages can’t be child pages, and therefore the breadcrumbs don’t work, and doing a non-full width layout would not look nearly as nice as the full-width.

Making things worse, users are dumped into Edit Profile upon registration, before they’ve even seen the full interior navigation of this section, so they complete their profile, hit Save – and have NO IDEA where they are supposed to go, because there is no navigation anywhere.

So, I realize this isn’t something built in, and it’s not a bug or anything, I’m
just suggesting perhaps a feature in an update that adds a button somewhere in the profile header (above, or next to the settings icon) that returns the user back to the main members only page (which can be set in the back end).

    Thanks for your time ??

This just popped up on my site too – though after switching to a different Admin page, and returning to the main Dashboard page, the error message is gone.

This alert is especially concerning considering 4.7.4 is the most recent version.

I did not click on anything on the WP Vulnerability Database page (is that site legit?).

Neither WordFence nor Sucuri is identifying any virus/malware on the site.

Excellent, glad to hear that will be included. Thank you!

Would still love to have the ability to auto-insert the shortcodes from, say, a button in the TinyMCE area… but otherwise, I’m still super happy with the plugin. I will absolutely give a good review!

    Thanks!
    Kym
