    Update: Problem solved.

While everything wasn’t working I installed the “Change Uploaded File Permissions Settings” plugin.

I then set the recursive permissions to 666 and to effect all the files (this actually solved the problem) but the plug in was setting them to 640 once uploaded.

So deactivated the plugin, tried again and everything is working perfectly.

Big thank you to both esmi & kionae for the help!

ok, so to test I set the permissions and recursive ownership to 777, ot all files and folders, and everything was showing up they way I needed it to.

But once I upload a new image through the wordpress dashboard, it uploads correctly but it’s file permissions are set to 640. So then I have to go back in and set it 666 for it to show up. Which works, but is a very tedious way to have to work with uploading media.

So any other suggestions as to how I can set it so the one permission is automatically set to files uploaded?

I installed the “Change Uploaded File Permissions Settings” plugin but it only asked me for a path to the files, and whether or not I wanted to log changes.

Any other help would be great!

Ok, after some digging it seems that the images get uploaded perfectly fine but the permissions are written to 660. So even when I manually type in the URL for the image I get an, Access Denied message.

So I set the permissions for one file to 666 and once I typed in the URL it showed up. So I figure my problem is now that when I upload an image through wordpress it automatically has its permissions set to 660 and therefore won’t show up anywhere.

    How do I change this?
