Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress database errorOK, here is what I have done… and still no resolution.
I deleted the entire wordpress folder on my server and then uploaded a full new clean version of WP 2.2.1 fresh from download.
I then tried to run https://www.pga-auctions.com/wordpress and of course got a message that there was no wp-config.php file, only a wp-config-sample.php
So I then uploaded only one file… the OLD wp-config.php file that had been in use prior to all these problems.
And now when I run https://www.pga-auctions.com/wordpress I get the message referred to earlier… “WordPress 2.2.1 requires MySQL 4.0.0 or higher”.
So I am guessing that the problem is NOT on my side, but rather on the Server Side. I will try to get some resolution from my server… but that is never easy.
Anyone have any ideas for me??

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: WordPress database errorWell, a new problem has arisen.
I wanted to try deleting the plugins as suggested but when I logged in I got this message:
ERROR: WordPress 2.2.1 requires MySQL 4.0.0 or higher
so now I can not get in to admin rights. I am assuming taht MySQL is on the server, over which I have no control??
The problem seems to have worsened!

In reply to: WordPress database errorHmmm, to the best of my knowledge I did nothing. I had not updated my blog in several days, when I went to do so, I got this message. I tried to fix it (blindly) and it only got worse.
The message comes up right from the get-go at https://www.pga-auctions.com/wordpress
I have no idea what my host may have done. Do you suspect the problem is at the host?

Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Alex King’s Share-ThisAllow me to BUMP this question back up in hopes of getting a solution..
My problem is a bit different from all the rest I have read here.
I have successfully installed the plugin but in both Firefox and IE7 the SHARE-THIS link, when clicked, pops UNDER my blog entry. (https://www.pga-auctions.com/wordpress/)
If I deactivate the js then Share-this takes me to a separate page, which is acceptable, but not the best solutions.
Has anyone seen this POP UNDER problem in their site? Has anyone found a resolution? I really like this plugin, but it is useless to me if it continues to pop UNDER my blog item.
Thanks everyone.. and especially Alex for so many wonderful plugins.

In reply to: Alex King’s Share-ThisMy problem with this plugin seems a bit different from all the rest.
When installed, in both Firefox and IE7 the popup for the various social sites pops UNDER my blog entry.
If I deactivate the js then Share-this takes me to a separate page, which is acceptable, but not the best solutions.
Anyone seen this POP UNDER problem? Any resolution?

In reply to: 5-Minute Installation – not for me…I guess in the WP 5 minute setup I am hung on this:
Create a database for WordPress on your web server, as well as a MySQL user who has all privileges for accessing and modifying it.
How do I do that??

In reply to: 5-Minute Installation – not for me…Ahhh, when I try https://localhost/ in an IE browser window I get a Windows welcome screen that reads:
Your Web service is now running.
You do not currently have a default Web page established for your users. Any users attempting to connect to your Web site from another machine are currently receiving an Under Construction page. Your Web server lists the following files as possible default Web pages: default.htm,default.asp,index.htm,iisstart.asp. Currently, only iisstart.asp exists. Now what??

In reply to: 5-Minute Installation – not for me…well I am making a little progress. I ditched phpmyadmin. I figured if I need that (complex) I will change professions… LOL
Now when I type localhost in my browser (Firefox) I get a window with this:
error ‘8002801c’
Error accessing the OLE registry.
/iisHelp/common/500-100.asp, line 17
