I deactivated TML and still got the error message. Deactivated Cimy User Extra Fields and the message disappeared. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I can do without those plugins. All the extra fields have, of course, disappeared from my profile page. Since I need those, I guess I can’t use Register Plus Redux, right?
I see the message, and when I create a new user, the password I enter is ignored and another is generated — at least, as far as I can tell from the email I’m sent. The email is not the customized one from Register Plus Redux. I guess I’ll disable TML and see what that does to my site.

In reply to: [Theme My Login] theme-my-login 6.3.8 recaptcha always wrongI turned the recaptcha in TML off in order to track down the problem. I believe it’s a plugin conflict with Register Plus Redux. Trying to get it sorted out now, so that TML handles the recaptcha.

In reply to: [Theme My Login] TML 6.3.8 recaptcha always wrongI think I just sorted it out. There’s a plugin conflict with an older version of Register Plus Redux. Register Plus had recaptcha set on as well. I updated the Register Plus plugin and turned recaptcha off in Register Plus. Hoping I can turn it back on in TML and have TML control all of that.

In reply to: [Theme My Login] TML 6.3.8 recaptcha always wrongWere you able to get SI Captcha to work? I turned of recaptcha in TML and installed SI Captcha. I’m still being told the captcha code is always wrong, even when it’s typed correctly.
In case this happens to anyone else: the filepath setup in my WordPress under Settings > Media was wrong. This must have worked at one time, because there was an image in the media library. I believe it got changed in upgrades my host did a while back, and I missed this site when making necessary changes. This now works, with the wp-content, upload, etc. directories set to 755.
Thanks. I’ve just put in a ticket with them.
I thought that since I just installed a new theme, perhaps the theme was causing a problem. Reverted to the old theme, but still had the upload problem. Tried the twenty twelve theme, just in case. No go. I even tried a different browser, though I had no reason to think that would work. It didn’t. I’ve tried deactivating all the plugins, since that often helps with problems. That didn’t work. I’ve also updated all the plugins. That didn’t work either. Not sure where to go from here, except to pick a theme that doesn’t use a background image so I don’t need to upload anything at this time, which seems like a pretty bad solution.

In reply to: line spacing when importing from MS WordA way I’ve found around something like this in the WP text editor is to place the cursor before the first letter on the second line — the one where you want the line break to occur — and hit enter. Hitting enter at the end of the line above does not work, but hitting enter at the beginning of the second line seems to. It can be time-consuming, but it’s worked for me.

In reply to: Uploading Posts into WP 3.5.1 VersionSorry about not posting a new topic. I guess I figured since it was the exact same error, I didn’t need to do that. My misunderstanding.
I deleted the 2013 and 05 directories, which were the ones I created using my FTP program. Then I tried changing the content directory (only) to all of the above — 766, 767, 775, 777. Still getting the same error.

In reply to: Uploading Posts into WP 3.5.1 VersionTried one more thing. I looked at a site that works (my test site). Same version of WordPress, same theme. In that installation, uploads, 2013, and 05 are all set to 755, and the upload works. Went back into the one that doesn’t work and set uploads, 2013, and 05 to 755. Still doesn’t work.

In reply to: Uploading Posts into WP 3.5.1 VersionJust to check, I went in and deactivated all my plugins. No difference.

In reply to: Uploading Posts into WP 3.5.1 VersionSame problem. I’m using 3.5.1. I’m trying to get a new theme running, and am uploading the header image, which is when I get this error. To try to get around it, I used my FTP program to create uploads/2013/05. Uploads, 2013, and 05 are 777; wp-content is 755. Still getting the error. I tried going all the way up the chain, to making the wordpress directory itself 777. Still got the error, so I went back and changed wordpress and wp-content to 755. I’m not sure why it’s even still trying to create the directory, since the directory exists. Doesn’t seem like this can be just a permissions problem. What else can I change?

In reply to: Accessing blog on something other than the front pageI got it. I found it in the documentation for static pages. All I had to do was create a new page with no template and no content. Thanks for your help!

In reply to: Accessing blog on something other than the front pageYes, it’s a static page. The theme is called BirdTIPS. The problem with creating a custom menu is that I don’t know where to point the Blog link to. Editing that into my current menu system is actually quite easy once I know what to link to. I can’t link it to the main page; when I do that, the about page shows, as expected. I don’t know the name of the page the posts go to. How do people get to that page when they use a different, static home page?
