In reply to: Permalinks page blankHow many pages does your site have? I was having a problem the other day but I was getting an error message. If you have over a 1000 pages I suppose you could be having the same problem. Just a guess.

In reply to: under construction page, so I can work on new themeThis might work – create your “under construction” page.
Using phpMyAdmin look up the new record number.
Then edited the database wp_options table
and change ‘page_on_front’ value to the new page number (remember the current setting so you can put it back later)I know this will change the landing page that is displayed – I have done it. I would assume you would also be able to call your current landing page through the admin panel if no where else. And without links on your under construction page visitors should only see that page – while you should be able to rework your site in private. When your done just change that number back and your back in business.

In reply to: Need AdviceI have the site back up and running. I still have a few minor issues to work out – permalinks aren’t working properly – but I think the bulk of the hard stuff is fixed.

In reply to: How do I change a permalinkI figured out how to point to the old main page. I used phpMyAdmin to edit my database, in the wp_options table I changed ‘page_on_front’ value from the new page number back to the old page number. Now I have the correct page displaying again. It had nothing to do with permalinks – oh – I still have issues with them not working but that is another problem.

In reply to: How do I change a permalinkThat is my problem. When I click the ‘edit’ nothing happens. There is nothing I can edit.
Not only that – but apparently some how in my poking around I have messed up something. Now most of my links are not working. The main pages still seem to work but most of the links from the main pages are now getting 404 errors.
This seems to be a Theme related issue. If I use the default theme the links still work. Anyone have any idea what I changed. What ever it was I must have done it by mistake. I don’t remember changing anything.

In reply to: can’t log in to admin panelYou can’t read the password – it is encrypted. But you can reset it back to what you think it is supposed to be.

In reply to: username and password in wp-config.php file is incorrectHere are instructions for resetting passwords – sorry it took me a minute to find it.

In reply to: username and password in wp-config.php file is incorrectI had a similar issue just last week. I ended up accessing the database through the cPanel and manually resetting the password there. Once I reset the password in the database I could then log into my Admin Panel.
