  • Well, it sounds like your tax rate is not set up right. If you are in the U.S., Only one rate for all is not very accurate. There are so many different tax rates within most of the states. If you are within one of those states, try use the tax table on https://www.woosalestax.com. Very light weight and formatted for Woocommerce. Hope this help..

Adding too many lines of tax rates into the tax table in WooCommerce will make your site very slow or even unusable. I had the same problem when I was working on WooCommerce site for a California client. I uploaded thousands of lines of tax rate to WooCommerce. My site was slow and tax won’t calculate at checkout. I wasn’t able to do any thing with the tax page either. I had to clear out all the entries.

I am now using tax table from https://www.woosalestax.com. Their table are very compact and easy to upload. I haven’t have any problem since then. I think they have tax rate table for all 52 states. Give it try. They are not free, but very low price. You won’t be regret with the valuable time saved and not to mention the frustrations. Hope this help..

Just upload the tax table from taxrates.com may not work for New York due to the fact that there are too many entries. I use the 5-digit zip code level sales tax rate table from https://www.woosalestax.com. Their version of table is very compact, easy to upload using the import option and won’t cause any performance issues on you website. Hope this help.
