In reply to: [MapGeo - Interactive Geo Maps] Intermittently workingHi Carlos,
Apologies, I followed the Interactive Maps support forum link and it took me here. Either way, thank you for your reply – you are correct. That was the problem and I have now fixed it.Thank you for your time and help, much appreciated.
SOVLED, but just for anyone else who may encounter the same issue.
I’ve managed to resolve this redirection issue after contacting WPForo support and asking for a way to simply disable the WPForo registration instead of redirecting as that was causing me too many issues.
The way to disable WPForo registration is as follows:
If you don’t want to use wpForo Reg/Login forms, go to Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Feature Tab and disable the below options:
Enable User Registration(Disabling this option won’t let users register through wpForo Reg form)
Replace Registration Page URL to Forum Registration Page URL
Replace Login Page URL to Forum Login Page URL
Replace Reset Password Page URL to Forum Reset Password Page URL
Then go to Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Members Tab and check Custom Authorization URLs field, set the Login/Reg/Reset Password URL’s to UM ones. Thanks
Hi @marktrader
I tried to redirect the link, but when doing so i’m faced with a drop down option to select either logged in or logged out users.
So, if I set the redirection on WPForo’s login page to redirect users to my custom login, then anyone who is not already a member and logged into my site can no longer see/access the forum, which is what I don’t want.
My developer says this may have something to do with there being a ‘?’ in the url?
Do you have any advice for redirecting?
Or is there a way to delete this page without redirecting?Thank you once again.
@marktrader
Hi Mark,
Thank you so very much for your help and your time. I did not expect such a quick reply! I had a look and yes! You’re right! There is another registration form. I will add a redirect to that page and see if that stops it – I assume this must be the main cause. As for point 2, i’d like for non-users to be able to look at the forum without having to make an account and log in, so i’ll try fix number 1 and see where that leads.
Thanks again Mark, hugely appreciated!
Cheers
I still don’t have this issue resolved unfortunately ??
I have set the forum for admin to manually approve each new member, however, i’m still getting bot sign ups that are being automatically approved.@marktrader hi mate, thanks for your reply. I tried the link you mentioned and that returns a 404. I have Recaptcha installed. But i’m not sure about your point 3, what do you mean you made the whole Forum page restricted?
@rightpossible thanks for the suggestion, however, I have too many (real) users with random email domains and I don’t want to restrict them from joining. But perhaps I may have to if i can’t get this sorted.
Hi Champ Camba, apologies, I completely missed that you replied.
No, WPForo does not have a registration form.
And ‘Anyone can register’ is unchecked un WP.It’s strange, the fake emails are all the same: “tester” followed by a long series of numbers @ some random email address. And I don’t get any email notifications whenever these fake addresses are added, but I do if a human makes an account. I have even put check boxes in for the user to describe their mode of transport first. But these all seem to be bypassed.
ThanksHi,
I’m just using Ultimate Member and WPForo, no other membership plugins,
Thanks,Hi and thanks for your reply,
I don’t have the UM recaptcha plug in installed, I already have an “Advanced no captcha & invisible captcha” plugin installed, and the UM plugin would interfere with this.
Plus, it has been fine for a long time, it’s now just suddenly a problem.
Also, the nocaptcha wouldn’t explain why i don’t get email notifications from the fake users?
Thank youThanks for the snippet however that code didnt work. my developer fixed it in other way. I am leaving the solution here. hope it will help someone
the following pages are in sitemap and thats why the sitemap is not working while NOT logged in. for a permanent fix, on wp-admin under Pages, type the each one and find. Click Edit page, Under SEO settings go to Advanced
Tick the box Do not display this page in search engine results / XML – HTML sitemaps (noindex)
and save the page. that will remove those pages from sitemap so that sitemaps will be accessiable.
/forumlogin/
/profile/
/register/
/members/
/logout/
/passwordreset/
/activity/
/acount/
/activate/the pages above should not be in sitemap. I guess it will be best to release an update and by adding “noindex” to that pages.
Thank you
Hi,
The issue is only with “page” sitemap. Posts and other types also the root sitemap is working fine.https://www.madornomad.com/sitemaps/page-sitemap1.xml
Thank you
Hi, thank you for your reply,
This has already been done and it is still not working.
Thank you.Hi Ultimate Member Support – it’d be great to get a reply and some support? Thanks
How did these fake accounts register on my site without me receiving an email notification that there are new users?
And why was their membership automatically approved?Hi and thanks for your response.
The wp-admin page is redirected to another URL which offers no option to register and it has always been like that.
I have now unchecked that setting under General.
No other membership plugin – only UM and WPForo.I have had a forum for five months and always used WordFence. 18 days ago I changed from WordFence to iThemes and then this happened 3 days ago. I wonder if it is linked?
But what I’m most confused about is that I always receive emails when new users try to make accounts. I registered a test dummy account today and immediately received an email to my administrator mail saying someone new has created an account – but with these fake 20 accounts I didn’t receive any notification?
Thanks for your help
