In reply to: [Chap Secure Password Login] A PHP Error pointing to Chap Secure LoginUpdate: It may be possible that there is some conflict with caching software, such as Comet Cache. This is based on the fact that Comet Cache ran into an error after disabling the plugin. Just an observation.

In reply to: [SiteOrigin CSS] Site not showingSome prefer having http for the public website and https for the admin area. In such a case, enabling https for the whole website just to use this plugin may be greeted with reluctance.
I have found a simple workaround. Simply disable the https LOCALLY on your computer using your browser (or through your Internet Security browser ad in), and enable when done using Siteorigin.
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Button] Need some customization help? Thanks for this theme….we really need themes like this, which have the sophistication of paid themes, and which are expected to be updated in the long run since they are backed by WordPress.
– Another option it to use inline cache exclusions with another caching plugin. Quick Cache currently does not support such a feature; but we are working toward this for a future release. Please see: https://github.com/WebSharks/Quick-Cache/issues/56
Can you please give me a tentative date of when this feature will be active? Migrating poll data to a javascript based plugin is a lot of work.
Just got an email from the plugin author, and he says there is no way around it, as preventing the pages with polls from loading would defeat the purpose of caching.
To quote,
But having define QUICK_CACHE_ALLOWED or DONOTCACHEPAGE defeats the purpose of using a cache plugin because if I am going to add it into the plugin, any pages that includes wp-polls will not be cached and that is most people because the polls are normally in the sidebar and the sidebar is loaded on every page.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] site_inaccessible errorUpdate: The issue seems to have mysteriously fixed itself as of now. I am able to register and use Jetpack.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] site_inaccessible errorI can confirm that this problem is happening on GoDaddy hosting with Windows Servers. I can’t use the workaround because my plan limits my options. I am hoping that the plugin is updated by the author. Until then no jetpack for me.

In reply to: [PiwigoMedia] https access not workingHello, this problem is recurring in Piwigomedia Version 1.1.2 (the latest).
The plugin DOES connect and log into the Piwigo gallery, but after selecting images, clicking on the insert link will do nothing at all.
Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Plugins should specify PHP memory usageDid. What I had in mind was some kind of guideline for all plugin publishers. Maybe something they ought to declare in a form, which shows up in the plugin description for us. There is reason why this forum is called “Requests and Feedback”

In reply to: WP overrated?WordPress has a known limitation when it comes to photoblogging. Granted, a photoblogging theme can solve the problem, but your website will no longer be a regular blog.
My solution: Install Piwigo on a subdomain and use the Piwigomedia plugin for WordPress to display the images in a WordPress page or post.

In reply to: Why Subversion is not a complete way to update WordPressThanks for the link…posted to article.

In reply to: Why Subversion is not a complete way to update WordPressSince you’re already typing commands to the server, why not use wget and unzip to download themes and plugins?
That way there’s no need to download them to your computer before uploading them again to the server.
Also, with the right permissions, casual users can update everything by clicking around in the admin interface. There’s no need for them to dabble with this stuff.
The whole idea is type minimal commands. With wget, things get out of hand when it comes to updating plugins.
I understand that everything can be managed via the dashboard, but thats not the case when it comes to some servers that do not allow Safe mode to be disabled. Also, FTP connections are insecure.
I still see potential in Subversion, however with some streamlining.
There is a move towards Subversion among the more advanced WordPress users. I am trying to understand whats in there for the casual user and how it can be improved.
