SUCCESS! I’m running WordPress 3.2 and after clearing the database and starting over I have the drop down menu again to select custom templates.

However…the current theme still shows Twenty Eleven even though I activated my new theme. The site shows correctly live, so I’m going to move forward.

Any insight on why this is occurring and how to fix it would be nice. Thanks for troubleshooting with me.

There are no errors. Should I just scrap it all and start over? Reinstall WP 3.2 and clear the database?

The error log wasn’t on then. I just enabled it yesterday. The template drop down has never been available with WordPress 3.2.1 regardless of what theme is activated.

Is there a file in wp-admin that includes the drop down if the selected theme has custom templates I could troubleshoot?

I’ll switch themes and see if there is an error…

I just re-installed WordPress 3.2, but this didn’t solve the issue. Now, I just have no clue what is wrong with it. I searched the forum and can’t find anyone else with this issue.

The 2 sites I’m currently working on are brand new, as in brand new domains. I downloaded the most recent WordPress 3.2.1 before activating a new theme, but I took your advice anyway for good measure.

    – I had no plugins activated.

-I reinstalled the Twenty Eleven theme from a fresh download of WordPress, so I could switch to it. What I found is I’m not able to switch to it because it defaults under the Current Theme (even though it isn’t activated as the current theme on the live site) If I activate Twenty Ten, Twenty Eleven still shows as the current theme.

-I reset the plugins folder and removed the plugins that come with the WordPress download, so it is now empty.

-I also reloaded the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

This DID NOT solve the problem. I’m still having an issue with the “Current Theme” and still no Page Attribute for selecting a Template on any specific page.

I have 5 live sites using WordPress and Custom Templates and Themes. The 2 sites currently with this problem are the only 2 using the new WordPress 3.2.1. The other 3 NOT experiencing this problem are using WordPress 3.2.

    Please advise.

Can I send you my site and password? I’m behind on deadlines. ??

It doesn’t matter what theme I select, no theme shows under ‘Current Theme’ in the admin. It doesn’t bother the functionality of the site as far as I can tell, but it never used to be like this and wondered if it was a bug or if it was causing other admin BUGS I’m experiencing. (ie. missing drop down menu to select a custom template under page attributes)

    Thanks..

Right…I meant Template and NOT Theme. Sorry. ‘I’m unable to select a template on the drop down menu. My theme has 6 custom page template files.

I’ve built many sites using wordpress and custom themes. The drop down menu just disappeared.

(Thanks for your fast reply, though…)
