I have attempted the suggestions you made, except for reinstalling wordpress (as you say that will be the last resort), and I havent had any luck.

Here are my comments below, I have some screen recordings but cannot see how I can add them to this reply.

1. When I try to edit pages it prompts me to edit the original page in Elementor.
2. When I revert back to old theme which was Hellow Elementor my changes are not reflected.
3. I checked the plugins and all are up to date except Elementor.
4. I checked that the homepage display setting and it is set to ‘home’ (the original homepage and not my new homepage).
5. When logged in as admin I have clicked “edit site” at the top of the toolbar and it displays my page with my changes, i can select “view desktop” and “view tablet” etc and it shows my changes, but if I select “view site” it displays the original site.

Thank you for your response and assistance with my problem. To answer your questions;

Yes, the dev site is a different domain to the live site. Am using dev as a testing ground before making any changes to the live site. Both have Go Daddy as host.

1. Yes, the Accountra Theme is active in dev and the Gutenverse Plugin is already installed.
2. I have been editing the home page (Appearance>Editor). In the editor I see my changes and I am able to save my changes, but when I click “view site” it shows me the old site the ex-staff member created instead of mine.
3. When I save changes to the homepage it saves without any error.

So, In Appearance>Editor I can see and save my changes, but when I click “view” it shows the old site.

Furthermore, In Appearance>Customize it displays the old site instead of mine and shows “Active Theme Accountra”. Also says “The Customizer allows you to preview changes to your site before publishing them. You can navigate to different pages on your site within the preview. Edit shortcuts are shown for some editable elements. The Customizer is intended for use with non-block themes”.

Now I seem to be stuck. Any other suggestions for me?
