In reply to: Bulk remove posts from a categoryAh…OK. That’s assuming that I have the “Bulk Move” plugin. Which I don’t. It’s been 2 months since my first post in the thread, so I kind of forgot about it.
Thanks!

In reply to: Bulk remove posts from a categoryThat returns a “Page not found” error. Can you please be more specific?

In reply to: Bulk remove posts from a categoryThanks for the reply…but I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Left side and right side of what? I wish I could attach a screenshot.
I’m in “Posts” and have filtered all the Published posts by the Featured category.
Now what?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Bulk remove posts from a categoryI’ll try the first link. I bet it won’t work either because of the title “Set Bulk Post…” I don’t want to set the category in bulk. I want to bulk remove posts from one category.
The second one, Bulk Move, doesn’t work for what I want. It lets you move posts from one category to another. But doesn’t allow you to remove them from a category. Unless I’m missing something.

In reply to: User Data ExportOK…so looks like I’ve stumped everyone. Or else I’m being ignored ??
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

In reply to: Why is my site connected to my WP.com account? That makes sense. Reason I was asking is that a friend is concerned that it is duplicating content and affecting SEO. He thinks that his old WP.com site is still active. I’m trying to tell him that that’s not the case.

In reply to: Exporting and ImportingWell, this is what I was afraid of. I did the import, and none of the users imported into the new WP site. They all went under the default user.
I wish someone had replied to my post. It would have been nice to avoid this.

In reply to: Exporting and ImportingAnyone?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Exporting and ImportingOK…that makes sense. But just before I execute the import, I get this message:
Import WordPress
Assign AuthorsTo make it easier for you to edit and save the imported content, you may want to reassign the author of the imported item to an existing user of this site. For example, you may want to import all the entries as admins entries.
If a new user is created by WordPress, a new password will be randomly generated and the new user’s role will be set as subscriber. Manually changing the new user’s details will be necessary.
Should I be concerned? I don’t want to do the import and then find out all the posts are imported under one user or something.
Thoughts?

In reply to: Exporting and ImportingYeah…that I understand.
I wish I could just tell my hosting provider to “get rid of my old website…clear it out completely. Re-install the database and wordpress and let me upload/restore my backup file.”
Kind of like starting over. I dunno…I’m trying to talk to them. They are attempting a migration, but they need all sorts of info from my old host…which I do not have access to.
Anyhow…very frustrating. But I’ll find a way.

In reply to: Exporting and ImportingWell, it’s confusing. It didn’t think it would be that difficult.
Couldn’t I just reformat or reinstall a new database in my new host and then just restore the backup file?
