    Thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback. All WooCommerce customers have access to our Starter plan, for which pricing begins at $19/month for up to 200 orders. When set up through WooCommerce, this plan supports real-time calculations up to 1,000 orders per month. If your sales exceed this threshold, you will still have access to reporting and filing in all US states on this plan.

    If you have more than 1,000 orders per month, and would like to use the TaxJar API to get calculations at checkout, an upgrade to TaxJar Professional is required. This plan includes phone support and 12 free AutoFiles per year, as well as newly launched features such as an expanded product tax code catalog and AI product taxability categorization. TaxJar Professional plans begin at $99/month for up to 200 orders.

    Thanks for reaching out! I did just send you an email back because you also emailed our support, but I wanted to answer here as well just in case other people have a similar question.

    I took a look at your specific situation and it seems like your WooCommerce store is not recognizing that you have set MD as one of your nexus states. If you go to your WooCommerce->TaxJar settings you should see a button that says ‘sync nexus addresses’. If you click that, you should see all of your nexus states sync from your TaxJar account into your WooCommerce store. They will appear just above the button you clicked.

    Once that is done, if “Enable TaxJar Calculations” is also checked, your store should start to charge tax when you are shipping to any of your nexus states.

    Regarding the settings that we override, this is to ensure accuracy when calculating tax for you. If there are particular settings you need control of, please reach out to [email protected] and we can see if this is possible while still having the plugin work well.

    I am happy to help with these issues. I think there are likely just a few settings off that I would be happy to help you set up if you email me at [email protected]. I’ll need the email address you use for TaxJar to be sure, but I’ll be happy to help you further there.

    Just to give you an idea of what may be going on, if you haven’t yet added nexus addresses inside of your TaxJar account, you’ll need to do this. Then inside of your WordPress -> WooCommerce -> TaxJar settings, you’ll need to click the ‘Sync with TaxJar’ button so your WooCommerce store knows your nexus addresses.

    You only need to charge sales tax when you are shipping to one of the states in which you have nexus. I am guessing you either don’t have your addresses listed or with your tests you are shipping to states in which you don’t have nexus.

    That should take care of the issues you are having with your WooCommerce store.

    Regarding the Stripe integration, it’s possible that we may not support the part of Stripe that you are using. We only support the Stripe Orders API with our integration.

    Here’s how to confirm that you are using the Orders API for your Stripe transactions:

    Did you create Products inside of Stripe? (If you did, you’ll see them here.)
    If the answer is no, then you are likely using Stripe via the Subscriptions or basic Payment processor, and this is a mode we do not support for downloading transaction history into TaxJar.

    Hi there!
    I am happy to help with this. We have tested the plugin and it works just as it did with earlier versions of WooCommerce. We have several customers that are currently using it on WooCommerce 3.0 or better. There are a few things we hope to update soon. At the very least we will push an update out to make sure people know the plugin still is compatible with the latest versions of WooCommerce.

    Hi Allen!
    I am happy to help with this. I took a look and it seems like Washington’s site that you provided gives rates of 9.1% and 8.9% respectively for the addresses you provided.

    I double checked them with our sales tax calculator and we seem to be returning the same rates as Washington expects (9.1% and 8.9).

    Can you confirm that you are on our latest plugin, V 1.2.4? It’s possible that an older version of our plugin might not be sending in all the information we need for accurate rate calculation.     Thanks for reaching out to us! I have also been in contact with you via [email protected], but I wanted to write a response here as well just in case anyone else is looking for the answer to this same question.

    Most states have various rules to determine whether or not you need to charge tax on shipping. California is one of those states. We’ve written a blog post to help you determine whether or not you should be charging tax on shipping in CA. Currently, based on advice from tax professionals we’ve spoken to, we’ve decided to not charge tax on shipping in CA and this is the reason you are running into this issue.

    We hope to add functionality to our app in the near future that will allow a user to select whether or not they want to charge tax on shipping. We do have a list of customers we will be notifying when this feature is added and if you’d like to be added to this list, or have any other questions, please contact us at [email protected].
