It seems like the members plugin may be overriding the redirect functionality. I’ve added an issue for this and I’ll dig in further when I get a chance.

Could you list WP version, plugin version, and the version of the members plugin?

Also, what was the other “login with Google” plugin you used?

Hey @rrodrigofranco, do you allow users to register themselves? You could have them link their accounts with Google in the profile edit screen.

Otherwise, there is no way to limit new users from being created if you have registrations enabled and the sign in with google button enabled.

Google accounts don’t have a username available—just an account ID—which is why it uses the email address for the WordPress account username.

If your users would prefer a specific username, you can direct them to create an account on your site first. Then they can link the user account with their Google account on the profile page in the admin.

You are correct that with version 1.6.0 if the “Anyone can register” setting is unchecked (disabling user registrations), the new user will see the error message.

The plugin now respects the site setting for user signups. This should not affect any user that currently has an account on the site. Enabling user registrations will let users create accounts with the “Log in with Google” button.

Hey @fwills, sorry you’re having issues. Are you using the current version of the plugin?

I know that early versions of the plugin did throw some errors in v7.4 so that could be your issue.

I also spun up a quick test site using PHP 7.4.1 and am not seeing any issues.

Are you able to paste the error that you’re seeing on your site when trying to run it with 7.4?

With the latest release, the plugin now respects the “Anyone can register” setting in Settings > General. Take a look and see if you have that setting enabled.

Users without an account will see that error message if they try to sign in with Google and that setting is unchecked.

Sorry you’re experiencing an issue with it. Could you provide a little more detail on what you’re seeing?

When you click “Scan”, does it just keep spinning? Are you seeing any errors in your console or in error logs?
