Thanks for your reply Kathryn. Sorry if my original post wasn’t clear. The issue only occurs when I contract the browser until the ‘mobile’ menu appears then click ‘Menu’ to expand it and then immediately maximise the browser while the mobile menu is still open. In your screencast the browser is being resized while the mobile menu is closed and the issue does not occur in this instance. I was able to replicate this behaviour on this link as well: https://bouquetdemo.wordpress.com

Oh yes I see the transitions now, applied to the anchors up in the ‘Base Styles’. I was too busy looking at all the styles relating to nav and topbar! The style you posted worked perfectly. Thanks so much bdbrown!

Sorry, I was working from localhost but I have managed to make a test area in order to post a link: https://test.itass.co.uk/schooltemplate/

As you can see, the background image slides from the left to the centre of the li but I can’t see anything in the css to cause that so I guess it’s in the functions somewhere. I did try to take a look but it’s way over my head.

I have tested this in IE 11, Chrome v47 and FF v42 and they all show this animated effect. IE9 doesn’t but obviously that doesn’t help much!
