The strange thing is that this problem is only in the categories, in the menus even if I use “Developer Mode”, the foreground image is correctly displayed in the background of the menu.

I still use the Catch Foodmania by Catch Themes theme.
In fact it is very uncomfortable that the category for your layout has a foreground image but then the theme inserts another one. Once everything is fixed I would hide the foreground image of your layout with css, since the theme will display the image for you. Graphically the site remains the same.

What version of WpMu do you use? Domain or folders? I use folders because my hosting is unable to have ssl in subdomains, so I use the installation with folders to solve the ssl problem.
