You could generate a menu entry of the type “indiviual link” and as URL type some random address (e.g. https://123), because it wouldn’t let you add an individual link to your menu without a valid URL.
Add it to your menu and then delete the URL afterwards, so that it becomes empty.

Now you can tap this menu entry and it just opens the submenu (loads nothing because it can’t). On desktops it also just opens the submenu if you click on the menu entry.

Of course this method only works, when you don’t want any website behind the main menu entry itself.

Its a bit special that this plugin brings its own library. But I think you’re normally not using more than one plugin for such purpose… so it’s not that bad to upload the files to their own library first. You can easily import them from the original wordpress library via Dashboard -> Gmedia -> “WP Media Library”. Select all the images you want and click Action -> Import to Gmedia Library on top of the selection screen… You even don’t have to set an album or category, you can also leave the fields empty if you don’t want to assign them to albums or categories yet.

And under Dashboard -> Gmedia -> “Add/Import Files” you can upload external medias or switch from “Upload Media” to “Import” (on top) if you want to import files from a folder, which is already inside the wordpress wp-content folder on your webserver (but not in the default WP media library…

The user interface is not that intuitive and can be confusing at first or even second sight. But the plugin is really feature rich and customizable and all for Free! I didn’t find another free plugin for my image needs which is as good as this one. Every one else wants you to pay for the really needed functions. I especially like the PhotoMania galleries and the great litebox to view it in full screen mode… and its really responsive.

Take the effort to learn it and you’ll be happy. I think this plugin grew a lot over time and the user interface was expanded and expanded and could now really need a refresh. But it’s only in the backend and my visitors and users don’t have to deal with it. At the Frontend its just beautiful. ??

It doesn’t work in the frontend. The banners in the admin panel doesn’t have a preview function and I’m displaying the banners in the bannerize widget (3 separate widgets for different Sponsor Categories), so it’s not a post or something i can preview from the backend.

The site is published but in the making, not an official website at the moment, so I can play around with it and nobody gets disturbed.

I deavtivated, uninstalled the plugin and removed every thing from the plugin inside the WP database. Reinstalled it and added the categories and banners from scratch (because I moved the site from an other server, i wasn’t sure if there was something wrong from the import/export)…. but sadly it’s still without any target attribute.

Hmmm I imported the data from a backup, because i moved the site to another server. Maybe there’s a problem with that.

I’ve created a new banner and also set the target again afterwards… here’s the sql export of wp_posts for the last 2 entries (the banner creation and the refresh of the entry)
