Just submitted the bug-report. I’m not really comfortable giving out login credentials as this is a production site, however I’m happy to try any code changes etc. suggested. The site doesn’t have any modifications to the plugin and I’m not running any other gallery or image plugins that would interfere, so it’s got to be in NextGEN itself.

I just came across this problem too – using a static page as my homepage and trying to link to a PDF file from it. The file is there, but the link gets re-written every time you update the page so that clicking on the link takes you to another page with only the actual file link on it (and that one works fine).

Like suggested above, taking out the rel attribute worked for me, didn’t try the file:// method.

I’d say this is a bug – someone needs to track it down and squish it! I’ve added my voice to the Trac ticket…

    alexleonard,

I haven’t had any real trouble working with widgets yet (and I’ve done a few now), but I’m mostly just ‘wigitizing’ old features. In that case, it’s pretty simple.

So for you, I’d suggest doing the hard work of developing your functionality when your tool is still just a regular old plugin working in the sidebar, and once you’ve got it working well, it’s a piece of cake to just dump it in a widget. That way, you get the best of both.

I agree, I think I can figure it out using the current system, but WordPress should have built-in functionality to easily let users have multiple instances of any widget, and there should be a simple way for developers to take advantage of this.

Can we get this into the next release please!

    Hi everyone,

Just “finished” v2.0 of Travelog. Now you can embed GoogleMaps into your posts and/or templates showing locations from your Travelog (with many customization options). The other major new feature is a Trip Tracker which allows you to enter trips into Travelog and add locations to it as stops. You can use the GoogleMap to show a map of your trip (with lines connecting the stops in order). There’s also a bunch of bug fixes and general improvements. Go to the plugin homepage at https://dev.wp-plugins.org/wiki/Travelog to download the new version and read more about the new features.

I’ve also added another download link for those who are having problems – sorry about all the confusion. Hope it’s fixed now.

As for your problem assyrian47, I think it has been fixed in v2.0 – there was a bug where Internet Explorer would not edit locations giving a “Failed to open page” error but it works now.

Finally, I just want to say that I will try to check this forum regularly, but if you’ve got questions/comments you’re likely better off posting them on the thread about the plugin on my website at https://www.sublimity.ca/2005/09/01/travelog/

I’ve written a plugin called Travelog that keeps track of locations adn stuff, and I have been working on integrating GoogleMaps into it. Right now they are only in the admin panel, but I’m hoping that in the next version (soon) it will allow embedded maps in posts etc. Your article looks really helpful Bill, I’ll read it over and see if I can get it working in the framework of the plugin. In the meantime, please check out my plugin and let me know what more you’d like it to do, or how to do it. I’m open to suggestions.
