In reply to: Yet another ‘RSS feed broken’ threadThank you for the response. I know the feed is not reading properly in Bloglines and I’ve lost readership over it. I suspect it’s also why Wikio perpetually lists me as “indexed but not yet ranked.” And if I don’t get a place in the Weblog awards because they can’t read my feed, I will cry hot tears of shame.
It seems likely that there’s something about my feed that’s making it fail in some readers, but the Bloglines FAQ and an email request to them didn’t yield any result.
Oh, well.

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Disappearing CommentsArgh! Started happening on my blog 12 hours ago. No comments at all are getting through (but at least I’m not getting any spam!). I have a sneaking suspicion it’s a database problem, but I don’t really know from databases (all I know is, comment preview works, but post doesn’t).
I have a ticket in with my host.

In reply to: I hate the way 2.6 handles images!Oooh! I got slammed by the awesome power of your moderation capability.
Customizable. That’s all I’m asking.
Complaints are like cockroaches: if you see one, there are a hundred more just like it in the walls, too shy to show themselves. Killing the one you see gets you nothing. Think about that while you unleash the almighty delete-button on my humble petition.

In reply to: Can’t log in as admin using Opera browserShoot. Good suggestion, but it isn’t working. I’ve tried several times (Opera crapped out a couple of those times, possibly because I tried to close the browser before it was done). I’ll give it a rest for today and try again tomorrow.
Thanks for chiming in.
Thanks for the response. I banged my head against it until I got in. I can log in no problem with Explorer, so it looks like an Opera problem. That may be why there are so few reports (I don’t know what the userbase of Opera is these days, but Firefox surely took big bites out of it).
On reflection, I’m thinking this is likely to be a WordPress 2.6 problem and I just barked my shins on it in the course of doing the upgrade.
In my case, it appears to be an Opera problem. I can log in fine using IE. Oh, man. If I can’t admin with my preferred browser, I’m going to be severely bummed.
Off to file a bug report.
Oh, right. The “lost your password?” link. Well, I’ve pressed it a few times and it hasn’t emailed me anything.
Which probably means I’ve buggered my original password. I can’t be positive I don’t have a dead return address in my settings, too.
Well, at least I can get onto my host. I’ll poke around in the php and see if I can find anything.
Awww…man! Me, too. I got here doing a search of “wordpress automatic upgrade password” hoping to find a workaround. How can you get to a ‘new password’ link without being able to login in the first place? Yargh!
Thing is, it knows I’m giving it the correct password. When I deliberately give it the wrong password, it says “incorrect password.” If I give it the right one, it sits there with its thumb up its ass.
“I know!” I says, “I’ll use a plug-in to upgrade! That way, I can’t screw it up…”
