Hi @stevejburge
I’m sure you’ll keep the new editor, it’s great for the “normal” usage ??
Yes, either an option to disable it, disable the <div>-wrapping or somehow detect if the text is a qualified URL, and in that case not wrap it in <div>? Any way we can save/update a slider without adding <div> to the caption, so the overlay feature still works, would be awesome!
About the image slider, I’m so sorry. I’m not sure why I couldn’t see it before, but the image is selected just great in the media library when clicking the image or the Edit icon.
Looking forward to anything you can do for the next release, thanks a lot!
Best regards
SvendKHi @stevejburge
I tried to disable all plugins, but that just crashed the site. It appears the plugins are important anyway ??
Almost all plugins enabled again and still errors. Even after all plugins and WordPress core was fully updated, error as described earlier when trying to add a new slide image to an existing slider.
I checked the troubleshooting:
- It’s a problem with all slides in the slideshow – all slides are updated at once
- The problem appeared in the second slideshow (the English site version) as soon as any slide in the slideshow was updated.
- No Conflict Mode was already on
- I checked and while I can’t remember which library we selected ages ago when we set it up, in Settings your plugin told me, that I could enable legacy options and it wouldn’t matter, as I was not currently using legacy libraries – we apparently use FlexSlider.
- No optimization og security plugins
- Yes – now it is ?? (It almost was)
- With fully updated plugins and WordPress, I used WP Rollback to downgrade Metaslider plugin to the version just before the WYSIWYG. It showed the “overlay” images link in the caption but in <div></div>’s – I guess the WYSIWYG editor added those, and I believe this might be the whole reason for it not to work in current version?
With this older version, I can add images to my sliders again, so definitely something’s going on with the latest version. - PHP 7.4.33 – controlled by web host. I guess I should push for an update?
- Disabling plugins – see above
So, step 7 helped, but I hope you will look in to it as well. It is an awesome feature, albeit a bit secret. As I understand it, Metaslider is not the slider itself, but it uses the Woo-built JQuery FlexSlider (or the legacy sliders). So the image overlay feature is something Woo have made, not you? – and I just checked, they are not marketing this feature as well, which is a bit weird, as it really is quite awesome.
My client’s site is not running as it should, but with a plugin from March. I really hope we can work something out. If it’s just that the editor adds “<div>” to the caption text, then maybe check if the caption text is a URL, and if so, not add <div>’s?
Also, a little feedback on the slider editing page, I’d like somehow to see the URL of the image for the slider, but it seems to not show. The image shown is a scaled down version, so I can see the URL for the image, but it is not really the correct URL. When clicking the image, it shows the media library but not with the selected image shown. I don’t know if it is of value to other, just my 2 cents ??
Looking forward to your comments on above.

Hello again
Hmm, I get an 500 AJAX error if I try to add a new slide to the existing slide show, after I have selected the image from the media library. The response HTML is (in Danish), found via the Network tab:
Der er sket en kritisk fejl p? dit websted.
L?r mere om fejls?gning i WordPress.The console says:
MetaSlider: Preparing 1 slide...
MetaSlider (window/global-js-error): Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token '<', "<p>Der er "... is not valid JSON (admin.php)
SyntaxError: Unexpected token '<', "
Der er "… is not valid JSON“<p>Der er” is probably Danish text, but I can’t see a slide image or anything with this text in it. I guess I need to follow your troubleshooting guide anyway – It’s first now I see the console errors and stuff.
Unless you have some golden nuggets for this, I’ll be back when I have tried isolating the problem on a test site.

SvendKHi @stevejburge
Thanks for getting back to me so swiftly.
Well, years ago I was with the client creating the first slides and then she have updated it once in a while, so I’m not totally sure how we did, but essentially we have two images. One image is the image selected for the slider and which is used as background, could be image1 below. And then in Photoshop we create a transparent PNG with some text and maybe a visual button on top, could be image2 below and upload to Media Library. And maybe the UI of the slider setup have changed, but as I look at it now (previously screenshot and attached), the link to the overlay image (image2) is in the Caption text field.
As of the current UI, our trick looks like wizardry, but it did work at one time. I must have read it somewhere – maybe even here in the support section, but we’re back to 2016 or something. It doesn’t ring a bell?
But updating any slider image makes it stop working. So I guess updating any slider creates a new set of images used for the slider, but if we don’t do anything, it uses the old images.
I’m not sure when my client last changed/updated a slider image. If she haven’t updated sliders in two years, well any change could have happened to the plugin in those two years without her noticing, until she actually updated a slider image?

SvendKHi George and thank you for your reply.
I’m sorry if I have been unclear in my first post. I am NOT changing language. I go direct to the English site, put stuff in the cart and when I view the cart, it thinks that I just came from the Danish site and have switched to English and then telling me, that the cart will be emptied, if I do not switch back. And as noted, if I DO switch “back” to Danish from the prompt, the english shop slug is used with the danish product slug, so I reach a 404 page…
As this is a production site, I cannot “invalidate” it for long, but if we can setup a time slot where you can test things, we certainly can do this? As noted I can create a WordPress user for you, if you’d like?
Hmm, changing the “Switching languages when there are items in the cart” to “Syncronize” from “Prompt” helped out the problem – but if someone has put a purely danish product in the cart and changing to english, then the user is not notified.
It would be awesome if you could have options like: “Try to switch products to the new language. If product is not translated to new language, prompt the user with information about the product not being available in that language.”
If you would like to inspect the site when the problem is there, give me a note here and maybe put a time frame, that I should have the options set to “Prompt…” (which isn’t working). Also, if you need admin access, let me know of an email address.
Thanks in advance ??

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Bug: Bulk edit products Price or Sale Price not always workingOh, I found out that pressing enter when Bulk Editing in e.g. the Sale price field that show up, when selecting in the dropdown menu, does not do the same as the Update button. Looking in the code, I can see that we’re in a form for the filtering in the top. Essentially I submit a request for filtering the product list. Could you change the Products listing so that the Bulk Edit are in an actual form element – the “posts-filter” form should then be ended right after the visual form and not include the product listing, as you cannot have a form in a form.
I don’t know if this Products page is WordPress core code (like with pages) or if you can change anything here.Oh, and after a bit of fiddling, I now understand that “Decrease” in Sale is decreasing the Sale-price from what it was set to before, not setting the Sale price as a decrease of the Regular price… Hmm. A bit of tooltipping or help text could be nice here. Or maybe just change the dropdowns to “Increase/Decrease sale price by” so it shows, that it is the sale price that is decreased. When there is no sale price (no discount), selecting “Decrease by ..” is setting the Sale price as a value of the regular price decreased by whatever value you set. This part could be upped a bit UI-wise, don’t you think? ??
Still I’d like Bulk editing of sales schedules ??

In reply to: [Change Permalink Helper] Works, but not with nested categories :-/Uhm… I’m sorry, it works fine. Thanks for this great and simple plugin ??
Same issue here.
If I enter
/%category%/%postname%/
in source and/%postname%/
in destination and I click save, source is changed to/tegory%/%postname%/
– cutting off “%ca”.I can change it directly in the database via phpMyAdmin, but the old links still end up in 404, and, well, after doing so, the Simple 301 Redirects options page has been blanked. If I do not insert
/%ca
in the front, and just change a letter for another, then the change is still in the database and in the Simple 301-page. Serious bug somewhere? Also, does it work if with nested categories?
EDIT: Ehm, just deleted your plugin via WordPress adminpage, and the uninstall didn’t delete the table(s) in the database?
Best regards
