I figured my issue out, but only after hours of pulling my hair out. ??

The developer gave instructions on doing a “simple” edit to a core file, but left off a semi-colon. I tried and tried copying and pasting all different variations in all different locations and finally noticed that every other line in the PHP ended in “;”, so I added one, and that was all it was.

Very frustrating. ??

I’m frustrated by other issues, too, but this is the only topic I posted (in) that got any responses. I was very excited about WordPress’ potential, but I’m about to give up.

I’m hoping someone may have some suggestion? I’m stuck on a work project/deadline, too, unless I figure this out.

I tried a handful of things in this thread before trying the obvious. I got the white screen while editing a plug-on (simple, recommended C&P).

I went in via FTP and deleted that plug-in. Everything popped right back up.

I’m also fighting a sudden white screen on https://www.gramsgang.com.

I can’t access https://www.gramsgang.com/wp-admin, either.

I haven’t tried anything else in this thread yet, but figured I’d toss it up here to get a head start on suggestions in case the rest that is already here doesn’t work. ??

Thank you very much, Felix. I haven’t even looked at PHP yet, so I don’t know how fast I’ll pick it up at all. I was only thinking about WordPress at this point. I can develop my own HTML easily. PHP is always needed for WordPress, though, right?

I guess I’ll start by dissecting some custom themes and seeing how much sense they make.

Perhaps I can ask a different question which would help me figure it out on my own?

Once I become efficient at developing custom themes, how many hours should it take me to create one?

Thank you for your response. I tried to read up on these forums and other WordPress resources. It looks like PHP knowledge is required. Is that something that someone who knows HTML and CSS could teach themselves easily – the amount required for this, anyway?
