    Hi,

While waiting I checked the styles.css to try find out what it may be called, and found “lemmony-mobile-hidden“.

So, that seems to do the trick, but can you please confirm that this is the correct choice for mobile? (so that it will keep working as intended).

It would be awesome if there is one for ALL devices too, if there isn’t one already. Perhaps something like “lemmony-hidden” or “lemmony-hidden-all”?

Ok I understand. It’s great that we share a passion for this theme! I intend to use it for many years now, with daily updates, for this new site. So I hope it will be a very active community and support. In addressing the issues you mentioned, I delved into the Lemmony panel and noticed the recommendation for WordPress 6.1-6.2. Interestingly, I decided to downgrade to 6.2.3, and lo and behold, the saving/updating issues so far appear to have disappeared.

This got me thinking – perhaps the theme’s developers suggestion to use WordPress 6.2 is intentional (the Lemmony Agency theme’s demo page is using 6.2.3 by the way). I speculate that some compatibility quirks may exist with versions like 6.3 or 6.4, that affects the “updating” speed and loading. It would be fantastic if we could pool our experiences and knowledge on WordPress and PHP versions to create a resource for the community.

For instance, I’m currently using WordPress 6.2.3 (downgraded today from 6.4) and PHP 8.2, and the theme seems to be running pretty smoothly. If you’re open to it, sharing details about the WordPress and PHP versions you (all) are using could be immensely beneficial. Let’s collaborate and create a collective resource that helps everyone enjoy a smoother experience with this fantastic theme! What versions of WordPress and PHP are you currently using? My server engineer told me he thinks the PHP version is unlikely the issue, so I am not downgrading that for now, as long as plugins I use work ok.

Since my post I remembered that both Lemmony and Lemmony Agency are free themes and that of course the timeframe for support responses can’t be expected to be too quick. I do appreciate any support updates when and if you have the time! Keep up the great work on these themes.

    Hi @skiwhitefish,

First off, thanks for your prompt response and valuable insights. I had forgotten that “Lemmony Agency” was indeed free as well as “Lemmony”.

It’s been quite a long while since I initially set up my new website and the theme, and now that I’m revisiting it for adding pages, posts and links and assets and it’s release, I’ve encountered these updating issues. Strangely, six months ago, everything was running smoothly and quickly. The only notable changes are the upgrades I recently made very recently:

    • WordPress to version 6.4.2
    • Lemmony to version 1.4
    • Lemmony Agency to version 1.1
    • PHP version: 8.2 (alt-php82)

Could you confirm if you are using the same version of WordPress and PHP? I’ve experienced issues with another website after upgrading PHP and WordPress (from 6.2 to 6.4), so this might be a common factor.

Regarding Lemmony’s compatibility with WordPress, I noticed in the “Lemmony” tab on my WordPress site, it recommends using WordPress versions 6.1 or 6.2 for the “best experience”. This raises the concern that Lemmony/Lemmony Agency might not be officially recommended for WordPress 6.3 or 6.4.2 (yet). Do you have any additional information on this? It makes me wonder if I should perhaps try downgrading WordPress to 6.2 to see if that helps, although it does not seem like a great thing to do if it can be avoided).

As for your expertise on server and hostname issues, I’m a bit of a beginner in that area. Could you provide guidance on where to check and update the hostname in cPanel, as you mentioned, “I updated my hostname for my new server”? Also, I’m unfamiliar with the term “switching boxes,” so any clarification would be immensely helpful.

Regarding the slow loading of media elements and images in the visual editor, I’ve also encountered this issue simultaneously with the updating problem. Images take up to 1-2+ minutes to load any thumbnails, and some images don’t display (show up) in the visual editor (some images do show up but some do not even though they are the same image size and file sizes). Do you think these issues could be related?

I value your experience and would greatly appreciate any further insights or guidance you can provide. Thanks in advance for your help!

The “Updating” animation keeps going for several minutes. There is now way of knowing if and when the updating has been saved. Also, often the “Update” button is not “active” i.e. it’s not clickable, i.e. like if it was “grayed out” if you see what I mean.

The “Updating” icon appears to be continuously rolling without resolution. Despite attempting to edit the “About Us” page and clicking “Update,” the process remains stuck in perpetual spinning mode even after five minutes. Is there any available support for addressing this issue with the theme?

Update, I noticed that there is a message down in left hand side corner that tells me when the page is finished updating, so that is a good thing and makes me know it has finished saving the changes! Just wondering why some pages takes long to finish updating and that animation was causing a bit of worry ??

That was it! Great thanks. I changed the settings for the “Index” template now and that worked. I changed HOME to my website URL and BLOG to my Blog page URL.

Is the “Index” template setting different from if i visit the “Blog” page via the websites menu and select “Blog” and “Edit Page”? It appears that way.

Just to be sure, should I change the “Index” page, and the “Archive” page and the “Blog” page, or only one or more of them? Or should any of those have their HOME and BLOG links set to something different?

Trying to figure out what’s what and what the difference is between a template and an actual page. Like what is the difference between the “Index” template and the “Blog” page?

OMG, I found the problem and solution. Pretty unexpected and hard to find.
Windows 10 does apparently not play carousels (and possibly some other animations too) in any browsers if this setting in Windows “Simplify and personalise Windows” setting “Show animations in Windows” is turned OFF.
Here is the setting, I have marked it with a red rectangle:

That is crazy, how that would stop animations like a slider carousel in browsers, right? I may never have been able to find that issue, but now you know. So, it was a Windows 10 OS Setting rather than a compatibility or bug I guess. I don’t think a Windows display setting should dictate the functionality of a website?! Not sure if you can adjust the code like if it’s JavaScript or something that could detect this and still work for anyone that has this Windows setting OFF?

Now, I wonder what else Windows settings may be messing up websites appearance that we are unaware of!

Hopefully this will be helpful to all other Windows users of the world..
I am assuming that this can probably be replicated in Windows 11 as well since it probably has that Personalise option too….

    Hi again,

I now tested in 4 different browsers on my main PC, with Windows 10.

All give the same result of the Hero Slider. I.e. It just shows a white rounded corner shape, not green and not changing image, I took a screenshot for you below. All browsers showed the exact same white shape but no movement/changes: https://postimg.cc/LnRhTHkH

From left to right, running on your test website, not my site:

    1. Firefox
    2. Edge
    3. Chrome
    4. Opera

It does work on my IPhone, so it seems like the only device in can’t view it on is my Windows 10 Desktop PC. That’s the computer I use though so I really need it to work on it too. I can’t figure out what could be causing this, I tried to for example many different browsers, your demo site, my install on website, all with the issue. I tried to reset the NVIDIA 3070 to default settings, I tried removing any extensions in the browers, but nothing helped.
Not sure what else could be the cause.

I was using PHP 8.2, perhaps it’s been tested up to 8.0 only?

    Thread Starter TomPettyFan

    (@sundstedt)

Could it be PHP version on server?
If so, which PHP version have you tested for? I am thinking perhaps this could explain if it’s working for you.

On your demo site, the links for “Home” an “Blog” on this page are both set to: https://lemmony.shufflehound.com/agency/blog/#

So perhaps you can test changing it to an actual link instead of the # and make sure it works.

I did a further test now, since I suspected it could do with perhaps the “Blog” page was not really editable, but perhaps used some default by code.

    I verified/tested this by renaming Home / Blog to… “Gnome / Bloog”

Unfortunately, when viewing the site, it still showed “Home / Blog” instead of the new names, and links still did not work but used “#” instead of set URL’s.

Interestingly, in the “Editor”, it actually keeps the renamed names, but when viewing the website, it shows the old default words “Home / Blog” instead.
That only happens on this page it seems. I am thinking perhaps it’s the functionality of some programming?

    Browsers tested:
    Chrome
    Edge
    Opera

I also tested this on another computer, the DELL Windows 11 laptop, and it didn’t use the new names and the URL’s linked to “#” instead of the correct URL’s defined. So it’s definately some type of bug, not my computer. Since the DELL is a fresh Windows 11 install and has the same result as the Windows 10.

I have tried to set the “Home” and “Blog” words to a URL.
It allows setting a URL in the editor, and the setting value URL remains. However, the URL is not followed/used when actually viewing the website. As you can see in this image, when inspecting the words Home and Blog, it instead uses what was the theme’s default settings, i.e. “#”. Because it adds the # instead of the set URL, the links do not work. They are not “broken”, they are defined, but they don’t work. I thought that by showing you this Inspect/Debug screenshot, it may be able to help you fix it.

For some reference, all other links I have set, like in the footer and in header, the links are followed correctly. So far it’s only these two that are not.

I use Windows 10 and the latest WordPress version and updated Chrome browser with no active extensions.

    Hi,

Since I tried this in 4 different browsers, all updated. In Windows 10 64 bit, it would appear very unlikely it’s something wrong with my computer or settings.

Could you please do some thorough testing on Windows 10, since around 72% of users including me are using Windows 10?

You mentioned you have tested on Windows 11. Since it works in Windows 11 on my laptop too, it would seem more likely it’s something to do with Windows 10 compatibility? Since it doesn’t play the gallery even in a new install of another browser with zero extensions or plugins, plus default settings.

Considering I have no other issues with any animations or software or websites or themes, this one gallery animation function not working on my computer seems a bit weird, don’t you think?

    GPU is NVIDA 3070
    CPU is 4 GHZ
OS is Windows 10 64 bit Pro
