Thanks for your help, but didn’t work for me.
Attempted to create a child theme and change the header, but WP won’t recognize my child theme. When I edited the main header.php, it messed up the spacing of the remainder of the page.

Have followed all the advice, some changes worked, however, still cannot change background on hover or font color on main navigation.

Found how to add a slider, however the slider image placeholder is still there. No place to add text for each image.
