  • I’m getting notified of Spam posts – but NOT notified of real posts!

Jeremy, thank you for your thorough reply. I haven’t downloaded the plugin (yet) — because as of this morning, the mystery has gotten deeper. I apologize in advance for what will be a long post here, but I want to give as many details as I can. I’m on hold for Lunar Pages Support to see if one of the problems is on their end as my host – and will likely be on hold long enough to write a novel. ??

    1. This morning I did receive one email notification (well, several – since the email was spam and repeated multiple times in an hour). The header:

    マイケルコース リュックサック <[email redacted]>

The body contains an URL, even though my Discussion Settings says to ‘hold for moderation’ with even one URL in it:

    Name: マイケルコース リュックサック
    Email: [email redacted]
Comment: Precisely why nobody is posting about watch and the thing you ought to create straight away.
    Phone: https://www.michaelacook.com/◇マイケルコース◇リュックサック-japan-1.html
    Subject: マイケルコース リュックサック
    Time: November 20, 2014 at 11:11 AM
    IP Address: [IP redacted]
    Contact Form URL: https://sugarfreegoodies.info/contact-sugar-free

Here’s where it gets interesting. Not a SINGLE one of these so-called ‘waiting for moderation’ comments is actually IN the comments, waiting for moderation. Nor are they in Spam. They’re not in my Gmail spam folder, either.

However. I now have six comments in Comments – all Spam. All meeting the criteria for Spam. But since I stopped receiving emails for moderation three days ago – nothing actually goes into the Spam folder. And when I click the ‘check for Spam’ button, the wheel spins and spins but nothing happens. If I want those spams to go to Spam, I need to check them all and do a Bulk Action. This has never happened before. And as I said, the one notification I keep getting for the spam comment above – does NOT show up in the Comments section!

But there’s more. When I go to General Settings, at the bottom is something I’ve never seen before upgrading to WP 4.0 :

    Site Language
Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.remarpro.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to www.remarpro.com. Please contact your server administrator.) in /home/writer5/public_html/sugarfreegoodies.info/wp-admin/includes/translation-install.php on line 59
Note: The WPLANG constant in your wp-config.php file is no longer needed.

[This is why I’m (still) on hold with Lunar Pages!]

Also, when I log in to Network Admin > Jetpack Settings, my site isn’t listed:

    Site Name Path Connected
    No items found.

I cannot make any sense out of any of this. I have made ZERO changes in the last several months, and everything worked like a charm (even after I upgraded to WP 4.0) but the problem started when a day after that I upgraded to the latest Jetpack.

Update: Just got off the phone with Lunar Pages who said they can’t help unless I buy their ‘managed care’ extra for $40 a month, which gives me 2 hours of support a month. If anyone reading this who can fix this contacts me directly — I don’t know how to do code, change lines, trouble-shoot WP — I’d be happy to pay them instead of LP!

In other words – HELP! Please.

Esmi, thanks for the succinct reply. ?? So, if redoing an import will simply add duplicates of everything, it looks like I need to do an entirely new WP install — or is there a file that holds all the pages, posts, comments, etc. that I can delete and THEN do a fresh import?

    Thanks – SugarFree
