  • After further investigation, here is what I found.

Directed CloudFlare away from site; still no dice.

Checked and triple checked for conflicting plugins. Nope and Nope.
Checked and re-checked hardened server… all is good in server world…

But, the devil is in the details……. Anyway, it was NOT cloudFlare. (Do check that though OP if you do have them or similar solution.)

Had whitelisted WF IP in both installations… WHAT GIVES?

THEN I saw it. Site 1–the site which registered a-ok; was in LEARNING MODE, but, that is NOT the critical piece of info. ENHANCED PROTECTION WAS OFF…. I had not configured it yet….. (Optimize the WordFence Firewall, listed in the WF dashboard.)

Here’s the piece you need to know. WF writes to your user.ini and your .htaccess file. Now, this is a GOOD thing, and we want this. The thing is though, with that enabled, you can click buttons inside WF till you are blue in the face; and nope, nada, nothing to see here. As in .htaccess and WF is doing its job in turning away a PHP attack…

If this is even your issue OP–that is. Of course there could be something else entirely.

Anyway, off with its head–I turned off WF firewall optimization, tried again; that did exactly jack…. Zilch, Zip, Nada…

Turned OFF the firewall… NOT EVEN…

Now it’s time to compare the .htaccess files….. Did it REALLY erase the entries??

PS: …Can anyone tell I REALLY want WF central? ??

    Anyway… This journey continues Manjana….

There IS the possibility that CloudFlare is taking its sweet time changing its scripts….

Meanwhile… WF gurus??? What are your next suggestions for what to do?
On a VPS and not afraid to get my hands dirty….

Update: Now the domain reports that Cloudflare is blocking access.

So my guess is about 100% this is cloudflare related. Basically it means waiting for their firewall rule to propagate.

Same issue here. Updated WP, newest issue of Wordfence.

The thing is, I could add one but not the other site, so I’m thinking along the lines of a plugin issue.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

Whitelisted WF Central IP with Cloudflare
    Whitelisted on my VPS server

Both sites are on the same server, one of them uses CloudFlare.

    So far my suspects are

    a) delay in whitelist propagation from CloudFlare
    b) some kind of plugin causing a problem…

I don’t think it is the WF software, as both sites are running the exact same version; and the add should then fail on both.

I’ll add anything else that I find in my investigation…

OP, do you have CloudFlare or other DNS seccurity provider? DDOS protection software?

    I’d start there.

Hi Richard, support is not currently required, but thanks for offering.

Because of the conflicts with multiple plugins beside the theme, I opted to go in a different direction. As you work hard on Jetpack, once it stops crashing with among others Yoast SEO I’ll take another look.

As this is my own website and not a test site I’m toying with, I really don’t have the time to wait around. Sorry but the bus left on this two weeks ago.

At this point, I’ll only work with plugins that are stable and compatible with my particular configuration. ??

Tell you what though. Once I start testing a new site I’ll give it another spin.

    Fair enough?

Thank you so much bgjoe. I will definitely consider it. I appreciate the resolution, and will add, I also stumbled upon your help pages for developers, they were there, I just hadn’t found them.

Thank you so much Bgjoe. You really have a fantastic product, especially for the price. I’m testing out Elementor at the moment, and even it–which is said to be the top of the line does not offer the kind of functionality yours does. Kudos on developing an amazing solution.

I will update my review and star rating once we have worked out the issues; some of the issues has to do with the Jetpack interface seeming to conflict between www.remarpro.com and WordPress.com, and Jetpack seeming to enter code into the theme, as well as conflicting iwth the building blocks plugin. And that, is certainly not your fault at all.

What I do want to ask for, in open forum, is two things; for all users for the future.

    1) Create an advanced user module, where the user can control all aspects of the integration – I suppose you could place a terms agreement there to free yourselves from liability for any damage the user does.

    2) At the very least, let the user have the option to fully disconnect your solution from both their wordpress installation and any wordpress.com connections made.

    3) Let the user purchase telephone support for a reasonable penny, which doesn’t put you in the red. I understand that time and employees’ expertise costs money and we should not expect telephone support for free. Make the support 24 hours, alternatively charge a premium for out-of-hours support. What I mean is a separate package which is for the telephone support only. I would have been happy to pay for that to save myself a ton of time and aggravation, and you trying to figure out what went wrong via text, and after the fact.

As it stands right now, I just need you to fully disconnect my sites from my account, and to reset it to “new” status, as well as point out the locations in the WP insstallation where Boldgrid places the remaining code after all has been uninstalled.

Which brings me to: Tutorials. My apologies if you have developer tutorials available, I just wasn’t able to find them. It would be awesome if you placed detailed troubleshooting tutorials on your site, akin to what Siteground does. Not my host by the way, they just have a ton of amazing material and deserve props for that.

Also, thank you for not getting defensive or refusing to tackle the issue. It is very common these days and your handling of the issue shows your true professionalism.

Like said, I will update my review and the star rating once we have this handled.

Update: It appears it is my BoldGrid builder which collides with the Jetpack plugin. The choice here is then easy for me. No Jetpack until it is compatible with the Boldgrid builder. It doesn’t appear to be the theme itself, but the building blocks plugin.

Hi everyone, just in case someone had the same issue as me. Site, dead as a doorknob, and the problem seemed to be spreading. First the admin console died, then the blog, next the about page, and then home as well.

I use CPANEL, and am on a VPS, so if you are on a shared host where your privileges are limited, you may need to call your host’s support.

I found two excellent articles, and was able to solve the problem by deactivating all the plugins via the CPanel’s FTP client, logging all the way out of wordpress.com like advised here, then installing the jetpack with all other plugins deactivated. It will soon be apparent if a conflict with another plugin is what is at issue.

And–if your issue happens to not be plugin related, this one.

This sure helped me out, as with a VPS I’m up a creek with no paddle. ??

    Cheers!
