In reply to: addon domain and multisite subdirectory setupI forgot to mention that I use the add-on domain as a stage environment to test WP multisite sub-directories enabled.
I hope this clarifies.

In reply to: addon domain and multisite subdirectory setuphello and thank you for your question. I am not an expert by any stretch of imagination. However, this is what I have done to install WP multisite (sub-diretories enabled) to an addon domain.
1. In cPanel, Added myaddondomain.com as an addon domain (primary domain: myprimarydomain.com which has WP multisite (sub-directories enabled))
2. Addon domain Document root: /public_html/myaddondomain
3. Created new database using mySQL databases, in cpanel
4. Added user to new database
5. FTP wordpress to public_html/myaddondomain
6. Renamed wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php; edited file’s database, user and password credential.
7. added web host Ip address myaddondomain.com to host file (my machine). eg: 123.123.123.123 myaddondomain.com
8. Typed myaddondomain.com in the URL to start the wp installation as specified in this guide.
9. followed instruction Create A WordPress NetworkNow, the guide (point 9) suggest you liase with your host to make the necessary changes to some files (eg: add a wildcard subdomain to your DNS records, see page 7 of the guide)
Perhaps @ipstenu may wish to provide extra insight on this, given my suggested procedure for a WP multisite sub-diretories enabled to an addon domain.I hope this helps.

In reply to: addon domain and multisite subdirectory setupthank you for this. I too am facing a similar scenario. Is the example below the best practice, in your opinion?
– Primary domain (mysite.com) – web hosted WP multisite/sub-directories installed in home/public_html/
– Addon domain (dev.mysite.com) also added to public html folder: eg home/public_html/dev/
Thank you for clarifying that and for your support.

In reply to: Multisite XAMMP localhost – blog.dirMika, I have found this excellent guide by Andrea r_
I that you have given me an answer already. I also appreciate that the guide (above) talks about server set up, whereas I am setting up WP multisite/sub-directories using XAMPP virtual localhost. However, i have found other guidelines that suggest that i should create a blogs.dir folder.
Could you please confirm that the blogs.dir is not needed?
Thank you for your support.

In reply to: Set up an online stage environmentMika, thank you.
I have a 2 live WP Multisite (subdiretory) root installation on a lixux server. Two domains: .org and .com.I was thinking to install WP on local in 2 separate folders:
C:\xampp\htdocs\mysite-org
C:\xampp\htdocs\mysite-comIs this best practice?
What are the implications (eg links not working) of moving live-to-local then loal-to-live?Thank you for your support.

In reply to: Set up an online stage environmentKjodle, thanks.
Unfortunately local host is not an option unless it is more practical and convenient (time, efforts, etc) than running a stage environment online. Is that the case? If so, could you please assist?

In reply to: Why WP Multisite force /blog slug? How to remove it?@metoo55, thank you for the handy work around. I have used postname instead.
What about taking the category slug off so that the link reads as follow, for example:.com/travel/new-york-city-restaurants-tips
Were travel is the category.
As opposed to
com/category/travel/new-york-city-restaurants-tips
On a different note, Can i always revert back to default, using the slug blog ?
What are the default permalinks setting for primary site at site level and network level?
Apologies for the numerous questions and thank you for your support.Forum: Networking WordPress
