Thank you for your reply. I don’t know how to check those settings that you mentioned, is there another way to get you the information you need to solve my issue?

I went into my Media Temple account, clicked on PHP settings, and selected PHP 5 from the radio dial menu. It updated automatically and took me 2 minutes to then update my WordPress using the automatic update function.

I don’t manage my own server – so it sounds like it would be a Media Temple issue. I’ll contact them and see if they can update the PHP.

I get this message:

You cannot update because WordPress 3.2.1 requires PHP version 5.2.4 or higher. You are running version 4.4.9.

How do I update my php so I can download and run the latest version of WordPress?
