In reply to: upgrading totally unused 2.0.3 to 2.0.4.Well as there is nothing in your Blog I’d say just follow the instructions and do a standard 2.03 – 2.04 upgrade.
No need at all to back anything up (as there really is nothing to backup).
If it all goes wrong just delete the entire directory on the remote server and start again.Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Running 1.2 – Best way to get to 2.0?Thanks again people.
I’d mis-read the upgrade instructions and failed to delete the wp-includes directory before uploading all of the new files.
End result was that directory was of course from the 1.5.2 installation and not from the upgrade to 2.0
Deleted that folder and uploaded the new one from 2.0 and it now all works.Updated my Blog from 1.2 – 1.5.2 and then from 1.5.2 – 2.0 in two more or less easy steps and the one and only issue I had was due to me not reading.

In reply to: Running 1.2 – Best way to get to 2.0?Thanks for the posts.
I decided to take the pluge and was initially pleased to see all was going well.
The upgrade from 1.2 – 1.5.2 went extremely well and that is the one that I’ve been putting off for months.
However something didn’t quite go right on the 1.5.2 – 2.0 upgrade.
When it came time to run the upgrade.php script I got the following error:Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/prawling/public_html/blog/wp-includes/locale.php on line 61
When I attempt to access my Blog now this is the error that appears.
Any ideas?Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Upgrading from b2 to WP problemsI’m afraid at the end of the day the best solution I found with upgrading from B2 to WP is don’t!
Because support on b2 had finished I too decided it was time to upgrade to WP.
The instructions, all five points of them seemed easy enough but as a lot of people in this thread will say – those five points are simply not enough.
If you’re a complete novice with MySQL and php (as I am) then those five points of an install and convert guide are nothing more than dangerous.
In the end I took a much more radical approach.
It took me a couple of days, but the end result is that it worked.
I copied and pasted all of my entries from my blog (about 4 months worth) into MS Word.
I then totally removed b2 from my website and did a clean, totally fresh, none-upgrade install of WP.
Finally I upgraded to WP 1.2 and then I copied & pasted each of my blog entries back, using the “Change Timestamp” option for each one.
Sure it took me 2-3 days to get all of the entries back in, however it ihas taken some people longer than that to get an upgrade working!!Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Errors during “import-b2.php” dare not continueA final post before I call it a night and for the first time in a long time do so without a fully working website ??
Here is a link to a screen capture of my “php MyAdmin” screen showing the database in question.

You should be able to see where the “semi duplicate” tables are.
If anybody could point me in the right direction on what to do next it would be most appreciated.Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Errors during “import-b2.php” dare not continueOK, so I had no option but to continue.
WP is now installed, wahay!!
None of my B2 posts are anywhere to be seen at all – I’ve got a totally empty Blog here.
Any ideas what my next steps should be?
I’ve got about five months worth of entries which “should” still be where they were, it’s just WP cannot in any way shape or form see them.
