In reply to: [Wellness] Problem with my clients page contentDaisy…would you mind sharing your recommendation with the board?? I just updated the Wellness theme for a client’s site, and it totally changed the look of the site. I backed up the site, jenniferbuys.com, just before updating…is there a way I can revert to pre-update look?
Thanks, and I can start another thread, but this one is pretty light, and the OP and my post speak to problems with the Wellness theme, so…
Done…sorry!
Thanks! SteveHey Logo…
I went in another direction, and just opened a new domain to copy to and from, when done revising.
Good luck,
SteveJust had another scary thought…Does “Deactivating the WP Staging plugin” on the original site delete the staged site, because that is where it originated and it seems like a subdomain? I may be confused, or overthinking it, but it does seem like one could lose the staged content, or might that only happen if you delete the WP Staging plugin?
Thanks,
SteveHey Lori,
I just added WP Clone by WP Academy, and in creating a backup of my staged site, though I haven’t really changed anything yet, I get an error message “page not found” and the original site is showing. I think there are a lot of old files on the original site, which I have not been given clearance to remove.I overrode max memory and execution time, limited file size to 100Mb and no other changes, and it went through. So, I have a url and just to the right (1.42GB) is indicated…size of the site??
The instructions for the next steps are a bit unclear…to me, at least…
paste into the “Restore” dialog of a new WordPress site, which will clone the original site to the new site. You must install the plugin on the new site and then run the WP Clone > Restore function.
Since you were overhauling a site, you didn’t “paste into the Restore dialog of a new WP site”, but replaced what was on the original site…right?? And installing “the plugin on the new site”, you read as install WP Clone on the original site? Lastly, does running “the WP Clone > Restore function” replace the original content automatically, or did you have to take extra steps?
Thanks for reading and if you have time, I would dig hearing your thoughts. Kudos to you for figuring this out!
Thanks,
SteveLorigolively…
Rene apparently lives in Germany, so I don’t really expect a response til late tonight, but I would appreciate your input, as to whether your work-around worked. On the steps you took, copying “the staging install back over to the live install,” and then dealing with “the password requirement setting and the name “STAGING – site name”, how did you copy the staging install, or what does that mean? If it’s a valid work-around, I would think Rene would be very grateful…I know I will be.
Thanks,
SteveSo, Rene, is this a good work-around of the “can’t push to live” limitation? I am disappointed, too, because I thought your plug-in would allow me to do an overhaul on eastmoreland.org, using eastmoreland.org/enarev, just as lorigolively thought.
If it is a valid work-around, could you clarify the steps to successfully push the staging site to the live site?
Thank you,

In reply to: Main Menu seems unstable/disappears…HELP!!Well, CEDCommerce can’t get back to me on this until Sat. or Mon., so I have to beg for someone else to take a look at my problem.
Thanks, and fingers crossed.

In reply to: Main Menu seems unstable/disappears…HELP!!It’s back to normal, but I had to use the Customization route to rebuild the menu, in order for it to not disappear when hitting “Save Menu,” on the regular Menu dashboard page. I would like to still remove the Categories designation on the Viewpoints(blog) page, but I am concerned that I will have to go through the Menu disappearance issue again.
Why does the parent/child theme only allow for one menu? Can you remove the page (Viewpoints) and save menu?
Thanks,

In reply to: Why would there be no Admin role in the Users Role menu?Ouch! Thanks for the observations. I worked, by chat, with tech support at GoDaddy, after trying with another person to wade into myPHP changes, which I can’t do. I forget what page we were looking at, but it had the old admin’s name and email, which I changed for mine.
I did nothing with user id #’s, but of the four users, one says user_id=2, another is user_id=3, another is user_id=4, and mine has no user id. I guess I could get back on the phone with them, but the client is really just a prospective client, and he won’t pay for that, so… If I get rid of the user who is #2, whose name I believe is from an even earlier web-designer, would that reorder #’s, because #’s 3 and 4 are the owner, with diff. email/user names, and both are Editors?
Not using role management plug-ins, and don’t know which would let me create an Admin role. I assume there is an Admin role, because the tech-guy said what I did had shifted Admin responsibilities/access to me, away from the old Admin.
It has never been this hard to make a user an Admin., so while I get your point, I just want to be able to make him an Admin., if we decide to not work together.
I am not comfortable messing with the guy’s business website recreating databases, etc., but interesting to hear the procedure. Don’t know if this link will be accessible, but maybe you’ll see the source of the problem (https://www.perfectpizzacompany.com/main/wp-admin/users.php).
Lastly, another thing I find odd, is the use of /main at the end of the url.
Thanks,

In reply to: Need help changing Colinear background color and menu tab color…I was able to change the background color, as I had hoped, but didn’t use a child theme, because I don’t know how. Now, I need to figure out the menu tabs. Any direction about how to alter the CSS, so that the tabs are a dark blue when hovered over, or clicked on, would be great.
Thanks,
Steve

In reply to: Need help changing Colinear background color and menu tab color…Thanks Allison, and yes, I called the border (teal) the periphery background. I do mean the white part of the pages…is there a name for that element?
I would like to do this first and deal with the menu tab colors later. Any tips on how to use Firebug to locate what needs to be changed?
I need to learn how to use Child themes, I suppose, but this site will morph into the next event in 2 months, so hopefully my changes won’t be wiped out by a theme update, but not a huge issue.
Thanks,
Steve

In reply to: Why would you move WP Admin to the bottom of the left sidebar??James,
Very sorry to have crossed my ski-tips like that…I use both, and had support screens up for both when I wrote that. Glad to hear it wasn’t the .org crew.
Thanks,
Steve

In reply to: [Simple Calendar - Google Calendar Plugin] Better go back to v2.4Sorry to not update, but I was able to fix the calendar issue, and the only thing the client is still bothered by, is the sparseness of the new look, with smaller font, I guess, but it doesn’t have the warmth/readability that it used to have.

In reply to: [Simple Calendar - Google Calendar Plugin] My client hates the new calendar…Hey Phil,
I figured out how to reset the calendar, so it’s all good, on that front. My client would like to make the list calendar on her site less spread out, and I don’t really know what to do, with regard to CSS, or whatever I need to use to alter font/spacing, etc.
Thanks,
Steve
