I already had Event as a category and your plugin uses Events.
I have tried the toggling use pretty URLs. With pretty URLs on things are worse I get “404 page not found” rather than a page with no content. (The top and bottom of the page appear but the post or posts are missing)

my categories look like this:

In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Adding Calendar View to a PageThe events you create are labeled as being in the events category.
If you click on “more info” on the widget you should see the full version of the post. – single.php
If you click on the “view all events” you should see either the list of events (list.php) or the calender – depends on what you select in the plugin settings.
Get the URL of the calender view and link to that.
You can alter the format and style using the associated CSS (events.css) and list.php, gridview.php, single.php, and/or table.php.

In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Upcoming/past events list not showingAfter logging out of WordPress admin I see that the list view of events still does not work if the site visitor is not logged in.

In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Upcoming/past events list not showingThanks – I have installed 1.6.2 and it all works for me.
Revised versions of list.php, gridview.php, single.php, and/or table.php had been introduced at some point so my versions in the theme folder were not consistant with the main versions in the plugin.
The method of calling the other parts of the theme to make a page has changed so I have had to review my custom files in the theme.
Also I have WP Super Cache on my site. It is probably worth reminding people to clear the cache when updating especially if they have custom files in the theme.

In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Upcoming/past events list not showingI see the same behaviour in both 1.5.6 and 1.6.

I am using custom view templates (list.php or single.php) but only change I made was to get the header and footer from my theme into the page. I think the way header and footer are called may have changed since I hacked the view templates – maybe I need to revise the changes – will investigate tomorrow.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Upcoming/past events list not showingI had the same issue and more with 1.6 so have reverted to 1.5.6.
If I was logged in the first upcoming effect would show. But nothing would get any past or forthcoming events to appear on list.
I have copied the new gridview.php, list.php and single.php into my theme. But I still get a 404 error when selecting “view all events” in the widget.
+ the format of the widget text changes. The text “view all events” moves to the bottom of the widget area and the entire text for each event becomes a link rather the “more info” part only.
It makes no difference if i select calender or list as default view or toggle the pretty URLs facility.
I had hoped this new version would enable the list view to work as well the calender view – at present I only get the most recent event to show in the list and then only if I am loggedin.
Will revert to 1.5.6 again.
This plugin is great in theory but I am losing patience with these bugs. I would expect plugin that is offered for an automatic upgrade via the admin console to upgrade gracefully.

In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] how to revert to 1.5.6Sorry to waste your time. Old versions are available from FYI box “OTHER VERSIONS”
I have installed 1.6 and it seems a backwards step, lots of views just fail to show.
Where can I get a copy of 1.5.6 to reinstall a working copy?

In reply to: Right Column issue with The Events CalendarCheck which page template is being used to display the calender.
Also check when your theme calls the sidebar. You may need to reorder things abit if the call is missing for this events category page.
I think this topic has been covered before – try searching.

In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] How do I display the list.php pageIt might help to think that you label a post as an “Events” post.
Each such post is then in the “Events” category.
The list.php file deals with the presentation of “Events” category posts it is not a page template.

In reply to: [Plugin: The Events Calendar] Where is the calendar? This plugin displays posts that you label as events.
Login and take a look at the site dashboard. View a post and you should see a panel introduced by the plugin called “The Events Calender” that will show you the options.
Configure the plugin in dashboard at Settings “The Events Calender”.
Posts are labelled a events category. They are displayed in a list and calender at /category/events/ in addition to where ever your posts are normally displayed.
