In reply to: Do i need to add a robots.txt filethanks for your answer, does the second line disallow: / mean not to index anything, ie google won’t crawl the whole site? If so, this would make sence.
secondly, the plugin i use (robots.txt plugin) creates a section in my settings in the reading to amend the robots.txt file, but is this a physical file (not the virtual wordpress file), if so, where is this file, i cannot find it on my server anywhere?
thanks again in advance… ??

Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: General Child Theme Questionsthanks esmi for your quick reply ?? i have purchased themes from places like elegant themes and themeforest and when an update for a theme comes out, only a few themes have an update button, so if i’m using a theme and an updated version is available, you are saying i can just “upgrade” without deactivating etc, if yes, how as i have never seen an upgrade button on most of my themes and…
2. as i am a novice wordpress user and use the control panel to make changes to the theme, i don’t actually know which files are being changed so to make a child theme word properly, i suppose i would have to find out what files are being changed by the control panel? wouldn’t it be easier to just make a note of any changes rather than having an incomplete child theme?
thanks again for any advice, just trying to understand child themes… ??

In reply to: Strict Standards Errors All Of A SuddenHi… everything is fixed now, i just uploaded a newer verion of the theme and all is well, however, why all of a sudden the errors occurred without doing anything is puzzling???
thanks again for all your help. ps, i did nothing to any plugins, when i changed the theme to twenty eleven or any theme for that matter, the errors disappeared, so the theme was the issue, but it had been working fine with no issues what so ever, didn’t think it would be possible to throw up errors without nothing changing since i first uploaded the site, no wordpress upgrade, no php upgrade, no analytics added, nothign at all?

In reply to: Strict Standards Errors All Of A Suddenhi, i will, but just can’t understand how one minute it would work, meaning the theme and all plugins are fine, then without any changes a few months on, the error messages appear, i can’t see how this can happen, i’ll contact the support anyhow, thank you for your help.. ??

In reply to: Strict Standards Errors All Of A Suddenmy friend, you are amazing, i am no techy so am grateful for your response, however, this still leave 3 errors, which are below, any help would be invaluable as i have no idea how to remove them, ps, i use this plugin on all my sites and don’t have an issue on them, is there a common reason for this?, remaining errors are:

In reply to: How to display only the first part of a page/posthi guys, i understand where your coming from, getting no answer from the theme support but the docs just give the link to the wp codex page for other parameters, the example they show is below, i just assumed the code required is not theme specific?
Example: “p=1” => Display content from Post with ID 1. ; “page_id=1” => Display content from Page with ID 1. All other parameters can be found in WP Codex.
any help is appreciated… ??
