In reply to: [Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection] Porn Spam Comments Please Help!Hi there,
Glad to hear that Akismet is at least catching all those for you.
The fact that you updated the post (not necessarily what you updated it with) might have made the latter resurface in places that might track your blog (search engines, blog aggregators, etc) as “new”, which in turn might have triggered he spam influx. Spammers thrive on new content, because they assume that it’s where engagement will happen, and they’ll get the most proverbial eyeballs if their spam makes it through.
It’s an unfortunate reality of publishing online, and in part why Akismet exists. ??

In reply to: [Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection] Massive spam in French languageHi there.
We’ll see what we can do in regards to your missed spam reports, but a more effective way could be to better target the ad campaign that most of those submitters seems to be coming from to only German speakers. The one that includes the following Google parameters when someone clicks on it:?gad_source=5&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjPaX-cOtiAMVKplQBh040BFdEAAYASAAEgKk-

In reply to: [Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection] Akismet ONLY for registration formHi there,
I don’t think there is an easy way or built-in way to do this because I see in FluentForm’s Akismet documentation that they stipulate “But be notified that you won’t see this option if Akismet is not already activated on the site.”
What that means is that they rely on the Akismet WordPress plugin, instead of interacting with our API directly. Because the former is originally specifically built to handle comments, achieving this would involve your writing custom code to nullify some of its actions and filters, which would likely require constant maintenance on your end when we upgrade the plugin over time.
Doesn’t sound like a very viable solution, unfortunately.
Hi there,
This is the support forum for the Akismet anti-spam plugin for WordPress, which doesn’t sound like what you were looking for. ??
Maybe this WooCommerce documentation on digital/downloadable product handling will help.Forum: Plugins

In reply to: [Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection] Suspicous file detected in pluginHi there @kristinubute.
The files in
/wp-content/languages/
are translation files that get automatically downloaded by WordPress when your site is set to something else thanen_US
(WP’s default language). That’s true for WP itself, plugins that support multiple languages (like Akismert), etc.Based on the file name in your screenshots (both images showed the same file, btw), is your site set to be in Australian English (
en_AU
)? Those translations usually deal with English differences between countries, like usingou
instead ofo
in words like colour, etc.If the latter is the case, I do not believe that the file is a threat. What I cannot gauge of with just screenshots is if said file was somehow “hacked” in some way, which would be doubtful.
Hope this helps.

In reply to: [Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection] Fake Email from AskimetHi there, @sanostec.
That sounds very sketchy… Some of it makes sense (Akismet email, WordPress.com login, etc), but the “option to click another link that was just a number” part doesn’t ring a bell.
I did find what appears to be your account on our end, and I do see that you added a new card yesterday, so it seems that the email was legitimate, but we’d love to hear more about the rest of the experience, as it sounds far from being user-friendly.
If you’re so inclined, we’d appreciate if you could reach out to our support via https://akismet.com/contact/, so we can look into the details of your inquiry.
