In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] archive always corruptPlease don’t mark it as resololved.
I am on holidays in outback Australia with dodgy internet and have not been able to test your suggestion. It might be another few weeks before I can.

In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] archive always corruptI gave up on using zip because when I opened the archive in Winzip, it didn’t show all the files.
I use the latest WinRAR to open the archive.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] archive always corruptI have downloaded the file from Dropbox multiple times, and each time, the file size is exactly the same and it is still corrupt.
As an experiment just now, I created a test job (tar file) to do a big backup (ie 1GB) to /uploads/backwpup folder, then downloaded with FileZilla – corrupt.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [BackWPup – WordPress Backup & Restore Plugin] archive always corruptThe 4th attempt was finally successful – but it shouldn’t be this hard.
answered my own question…
I my case, I used the Code Snippets plugin to add the php code – and it seems to solve the problem!thanks Isommerdal
Isommerdal – where do I insert that bit of php ?
thanks
Ian
duongcuong96’s solution fixed my problem (well, 1st retry anyway). I had no idea how to install a php plugin, so installed the code snippet into /public_html/wp-content/themes/twentyten/functions.php as suggested.

In reply to: [Media Library Folders] no checkbox with thumbnails ?Thankyou for that, that fixed the problem. (I did do a search before posting, but was searching for “checkbox” – not “caption”). I am operating purely in “monkey see, monkey do” mode here ??
I had never edited the functions.php file before and did a bit of Googling. One article I saw said it was best not to add to the theme’s functions.php as it would get overwritten if/when the theme was updated. Is that correct?
This article recommended installing the “Code Snippets” plugin and adding custom code there. I tried that, but your code didn’t parse correctly – so I went and did what you suggested and put it in the theme’s functions.php file.

In reply to: [Media Library Folders] no checkbox with thumbnails ?yes, they are all pdf files. I have been uploading them via FTP lately after having some problems earlier uploading them through MLF (and then I haven’t found a way to generate the thumbnails). However, the last 2 (where the thumbnails look the same, and one needs to be deleted when I find out how) were uploaded successfully through MLF.

Oh dear – I have been wasting your time. Many apologies.
The backups are complete – it’s just that 7-Zip didn’t display all the folders nor give any warning or error message that it couldn’t decode the whole TAR.
WinRar confirms all the files appear to be there.
Correct – I used Windows and 7-Zip (I have found WinZip usually cannot open these files)
Absolutely no errors are noted in the log file. By downloading and extracting the Tar file is how I know the folders are not there.
I have the job setup as per the attached screenshots and run it manually and it copies it to a DropBox. The only folder backed-up is the one circled in purple (1606), and it isn’t one I’m interested in anyway (just has an empty sub-folder).

In reply to: [Media Library Folders] Regenerate thumbnails doesn’t workPeter – that makes perfect sense. However, somehow-or-other my predecessor loaded the pdfs into WordPress in such a manner that they ended-up with thumbnails. I then decided the place needed a bit more organisation and started using MLF (which is great) – and now all my uploads look like orphans with no thumbnails ??
Anyway, no disaster if it can’t be done (just looks untidy).
thanks
