I went and looked for it on his profile page that I can view and didn’t see it but I did see the check box on my own profile page that I had overlooked at least half a dozen times. I’ll have him check it off so he has access to the rich text editor.

thanks for the info, I have the link open and will read it shortly. Based on your idea, I tried out the idea of a subcategory as opposed to a tag, it seemed to have the same effect. If you click on Snobby Republicans, you got all the sub category stuff (Coulter, Limbaugh etc) along with anything not posted to a sub catagory (it’s just abotu snobby repubs).
Based on your post, though, it sounds like I stumbling, stupidly into a hornets nest.

I know about print screen. I was kinda hoping for something that would keep the links as links and keep the text as text it just wouldn’t have the full funcionality of wordpress.
Besides print screen would look darn ugly if I used a smaller monitor than some of my readers.

I can’t edit my own post any longer or I would, not trying to bump here.

I tried reinstalling WP, I tried reinstalling the theme from scratch, I tried switching themes. I get the same result.
Oddly, if I go into a given category and to to Previous Posts within that category, it works. It’s only in when I try to do it from the front page.

In fact, that inspired more playing, it is only the front page. If I hit previous page, I get the error described above, then I make the corrections to show the page. Then hit previous or next page, they both work. It really, literally is only on the home page.

I’m gonna root in the themes for a work around but a real answer would be very cool.

yeah, I tried a different compy and a different browser but they are all on this network. I’ll have to try it later from another network.

I did, but it didn’t mean anything to me, sorry, slow learner. I’ll try a test case with my own, maybe that’ll get it through my head.

you could always do a second WordPress install in a different directory and point it to the tables for the first blog. Then use the second install for you sandbox. Just know that any test entries in teh sandbox will end up in your actual blog.

Yuo, corrupted SQL tables, again. Not terribly happy about that.

it sounds like you wrote a theme, now you want it on a different database. wouldn’t you just copy the theme like getting any other theme for WordPress? or am I just being dense today? it happens

you can set the number of post or number of days you want displayed from within your options
